Out of curiosity, if I were to get a couple of rabbits to live in my home would they be OK on their own from 8-6 most days? Also, can they climb stairs or do they just live on one floor?

Mine are fine on their own for most of the day.
They have a 3 story cage and live quite happily in it. They come out for 2 hours a night (more on weekends) to have free run of the living room.

My advice is you have them roaming- don't get precious over anything, including the carpet.
And get it a friend. The change from solo bunny (grumpy) to part of a couple is amazing (grumpy and protective).

When we lived in a house, all the rabbits loved going upstairs. Coming down was a different matter, but they all mastered it, given time. If you let them have free run of the house, make sure they can't get at any wiring, because they WILL chew it. And skirtings. And chairs. And tables. Curtains are delicious. So is wallpaper. Clothes taste quite nice too. Shoes and boots? Yummy! Carpets are great for digging into, they take much longer than dirt!

Make sure they are using the litter tray before you leave them alone. They won't miss you, all ours did was sit in the same place all day. Don't forget food and water.

Have fun, they will!

My eldest doe was like this, once I got her a friend, the transformation was amazing. It's like they're joined at the hip as they're inseparable.

I work full time, the Gareth gets rather excited to see me when I come home but they are absolutely fine, they have a run attached to the indoor cage so have plenty of running room, I have put a rug down under the run so they don't ruin the carpet, I also let them have run of the flat when I come home in the evening.

As long as they have fresh water, food, space and each other they will be happy as Larry smile

I lost my little lady last night, I got home from work and she was slumped in the corner of her cage, very lethargic and just not herself. I called the emergency vets and took her in, I put her down on the table and her stomach was notably larger than usual, Vet had a poke around and said there is a lot of fluid in her tummy, which he believed to be blood, he thinks she has had a tumour which has ruptured and caused internal bleeding. They asked for my consent and I had to say goodbye to her.

I miss her so much already, as she was in a bonded pair, my Boy Gareth is notably upset, was thumping through the night and generally making his presence known.

Absolutely gutted, i've never had anything happen so quick, she was fine in the morning (well seemed it - they are house rabbits so I check on them every morning when I give them fresh water) then all of a sudden she is gone!

Heartbroken doesn't quite cover it

Sorry to hear that. This is why you must watch your rabbits closely. They can go from healthy to dead very quickly. We've had two (both females) go from tip-top to dead in six hours. The vet thinks (like yours) they had tumors that ruptured.

Give Gareth lots of attention, and be prepared for the "joy" that is bonding a new partner for him.

Awwww so cute!!!

I am having a home visit tonight from a rabbit rescue.
If I didn't have Gareth I don't think I would get another but the reason I got him a friend in the first place was because he was chewing/ pulling at his fur and he gave himself a bold patch on his back which has been gone for the last 12 months whilst he had Terri.
I have noticed he is starting to do that again now he's on his own so looks like I am getting another

I did not teach her to open this in any shape or form.

They were accidentally bought bunny muesli instead of nuggets so rather than chucking it away they get a teaspoon full in a cardboard tube stuffed with hay as something to keep them occupied.

Seems getting into the main box is more exciting. Little git can even get in the cupboard as the mechanism has fallen out of the handle so it is only pushed to.
