Poor puss! I don't think we have a name for your girl do we? Was this a confrontation or a bramble? Lots of TLC needed.

Yay. My black velvet curtains freshly laundered and waiting to be hung...Frida has a dark sense of humour.

Laughed at me when I asked her to move. Hilarious rolleyes

I am currently building a 6ft cat scratcher!

Ordered a round fence post from a friends fencing business, sisal rope for the post and carpet for the base is being delivered Monday. I need to figure out how to anchor it to stop it falling over - or how wide the base needs to be. Should be a fun project considering our smallest one likes to spiderman on the small scratcher we have! Perhaps the big one will start doing it too.

Hex bolts? I made something similar but attached it to the floor and wall with cupboard brackets. Mine have loads of posts and cooking frames and window hammocks. They love them.

Can't affix them to the floor or ceiling (rental). Was thinking chaining it to a wall and then making good when leaving. Or incorporating shelves as supports and also making good. Or make it freestanding with a larger base.

They're going to love it though!

How about making it like a ladder shelf that you can lean against the wall. Portable then too.

Those are 2 stunning looking cats and quite the climbers!

BBC is home again after his latest incarceration at the vet. A simple boarding initially whilst I went away with work which turned into yet another investigation into his sneezing by a vet not fully familiar with the story. Cue another £500 bill (yay) and the sneezing remains.

Regular vet (same practice, they clearly don’t talk to each other) says we should learn to live with it unless it deteriorates. She sees a few fiv+ cats with asthma and they’re all the same. Currently on salbutamol twice daily, monthly haircut/de-shed and monitoring. Each time he has an asthma attack at night it keeps us both awake for ages, poor guy.

Looking for some advice...

I'm semi-retiring end of this week. My plan is to out our Uk house in storeage andmove to a property we own in south of Spain for the next 5-6 months - to chillout (deserved after 31 years in corporate), learn spanish, read books, play golf, expand my culinary skills and drink lots of cheap spanish wine (etc. etc)

I have the option of leaving my 2 babies with my in laws (who are used to cats, and adore my 2), but I'd prefer to have them with me if possible as I'll miss having them around terribly.

Challenge is I'm going to drive to Spain from Surrey - either using the Santander ferry route, or via a French port.... either way, it will be best part of 2 days in the car.

Anyone done a long drive with cats?
An update on this in case anyone else is thinking of travelling with their cats...

I decided to drive in the end... and just do it in one hit to minimise travel time. I bought a 3ftx2ftx2ft cage and a nice thick cushion, which went on the back seat of my Touareg with a blanket over the top.

They were a bit stressed when I 1st put them in, and carried them out to the car, but settled quickly. I left Surrey 3pm Friday, picked my father up from our local train station, and we drove straight to the channel tunnel. We were in France by 6pm CET, Spain at a little after 4am, and at my place nr Marbella by 2.30 Saturday afternoon.

My babies never left the cage during the 1,443 miles/23 hour drive. They didn’t eat or use the tray I had jammed in the rear passenger footwell - they just slept most of the journey, cuddled up together. They were good as gold, and at no time looked or acted stressed.

We’ve been in Spain a few days now and they are gradually settling in. They have the run of the apartment, but I’ve not let them outside yet. During the day they mostly sleep under my bed, and then they belt round like maniacs all night. They are eating a drinking normally.

The drive nearly killed me, but I’m super happy they are down here safe and sound.

Good to hear! Well done. Hopefully they settle and you can let them out to explore!

That is good to hear. My 2 are getting on the plane next Thursday to join me in New Jersey. Will update once complete, hoping for a similar experience and then expecting to be hated by the girls for a few days in their new house!

This made me smile smile

Glad it all worked out in the end.
