It's Caturday- Post some cats (vol 3)
Discussion
Ernie arrived for the local cat rescue charity a few months ago. He like to sit on my keyboard - I have to remember to regularly save my work!
What are people's views on monthly worm and flea treatments? I've read that they are bad for nature and so best just to treat parasites if they arise. Our vet also charges £22 a month for them!

I see no point in spending money to treat a condition if it doesn't exist - I'm no greeny but unnecessary use of chemicals, especially pesticides, isn't a good idea. Also on the cost front it makes no sense to me - I've had my current cat 9+ years and there have been no signs of fleas or worms so that's 22 x 12 x 9 = £2,376 I still have. Both of mine are outdoor cats... the girl spends at least half her life outside, and regularly is a successful hunter.
They've been fleaed/wormed twice each in the last 7 years, while they were at the vets for other issues.
Never had a problem with either of them.
Monthly is a huge con!
