I just wanted to post this because it's adorable: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1599372311729298
Awwww, that cat looks just like one of my parents' old cats, Smeagol
The bloke actually looks a bit like my dad too...My study is in the front box room, and there is a sloping bit coming from the floor in the back corner because of the stairs below. It has been boxed in, with a cupboard above it.
I have been running some pipes down the inside and I have had to take the bottom out of it. I was using a chalk line to mark the clips, but the locking mechanism is a bit crap. I dropped the reel into the void below, so I had to keep pulling the string until it reached the end.
It got a bit tangled, so I left it until the morning to untangle. As I was doing so, Royston was watching. I got to the last metre and he decided to pounce. He also managed to get himself tangled in the line, which he did not like. He shot off, dragging the line from the reel. He got all the way back along the landing, then down the stairs, with the reel spinning like I had caught an enormous sailfish, all the time blue chalk dust spraying from the bottom!
This is him after I wound it in.

I think I posted a few years ago during lockdown. My diving club was having Zoom calls and one of the members noticed another had a square marked in tape on the floor. She asked what it was and he said there is a theory that if you mark a box on the floor, a cat will sit in it.
She jumped up and came back thirty seconds later with some masking tape. Within a minute or so, her cat was in it.
I hadn't tried it with Royston, but I ordered some new car mats that did not fit. I lay the old and the new on the floor to photograph them for my return request. Bear in mind the rug is far more plush than the threadbare mat, this is him after I went to pack the new mat for postage...

He still won't go in his cat bed!
