On a lighter note has anyone seen these mini kitty egg chairs advertised? I can’t find the exact advert now but similar to this

They were shipped from the States and reading reviews took some time. I thought my kittens would’ve outgrown by the time it got here so looked around for alternatives. One on Amazon is almost £200!

Decided I’d leave it but then this hanging basket came up locally on FB marketplace for £10

I picked it up last week. Probably four weeks too late

Left it on top of an ottoman next to my bed thinking the cats might play in it. Just discovered this

Rest assured no kittens were harmed and he could’ve only been in there for a maximum of five minutes while I brushed my teeth.

Egg chairs. Avoid shelling out. No yolking matter.

It's a shame about Bob.

On a lighter note, this guy has been cycling round the world with his cat (she picked him up somewhere in eastern Europe I think)

I made Ziggy the best cat toy any cat could have for a hard floor today. Yes, the loosely rolled up ball of tinfoil. I have not met a cat that can resist, even Gerald a neighbours cat who I was told “never, ever plays”. inside 1 minute, Gerald was bombing around the drive like a kitten. Anyway, I digress, Ziggy went nuts with this carefully crafted in seconds toy for ages on the kitchen floor, but then we had a bit of a disaster.

There is a narrow open vent above the kick panel of the in built dishwasher. Somehow, in a split second he managed to get his head stuck firmly in it. His screams of panic were the loudest I have heard as I tried to help him out of his predicament, head stuck in, wouldn’t come out. The way in was quite smooth, but the way back out had lots of edges, like the stainless steel dishwasher door edge. He managed to get further in as I touched him, so my only option was to grab his back legs to avoid taking the kitchen out this evening. Cue more distressed noises.

I really didn’t know what to do, so holding his back paws, I worked my hand around his head to try to rotate it to find the position that allowed it to go through Whilst trying not to catch him on the sharper edges. Poor little lad was really panicking but after what seemed like an eternity, I got him out with no apparent injuries, except to his feline (in)dignity and my heart rate.

Better get the woodwork tools out tomorrow.

Just to balance things on the age front here is Poppy - she was 20 in these pics... [url]

...when our labradors joined the household she and her brother Boz de-camped to the garage for ten years - and paid me back in corrosive cat urine and hidden turds!!!
Ioved them both to bits and age mellowed Poppy quite considerably as you can see.

Got a noisy welcome when I got home the other day!

I think we have settled on Mulder and Scully for names, although the ginger/white one is the male so he is Mulder...

Getting along great with our frenchie too, although we don't yet leave them alone I think they would likely be fine together, but will give them more supervised time together before we try that as its maybe too soon yet.

@SeeFive - We had a similar problem (Without the getting stuck part) where Mulder found the gap under the oven I didn't know existed and disappeared in there, I have no idea whats behind it so we did panic in case he got stuck or there was anything dangerous there, but some tempting with their favourite food had him back out pretty quick thankfully!

One issue we have been having is they often pee outside their litter tray, anyone have any tips to stop this? We actually only have one litter tray right now and I learned this week you should really have one per cat as a minimum so will be picking up another today to try, but other than this how best to train them to do everything in the trays? So far the number twos have been done in there so that's good!

We had a female that didn't know where its arse was and often peed over the side of a standard litter tray, so we got a high-sided tray (tote bin I think) and the sides were higher than her back end. Later we acquired a closed-in litter box with a carbon filter in the vent at the top. Far less pong, and no mess outside the box beyond what sticks to their feet. And there's a 'doormat' for that too.

The tray we have now is an enclosed one with carbon filter, although the door is always left up to avoid them getting confused how to get in/out as it seemed to trouble them to begin with, will wait until they are a bit bigger before teaching them how to push it open properly, wanted to reduce the risk that it might stop them using it if they cant get in easily to start with.

I will pick up another tray today to see if this helps avoid any more puddles being found!

Lovely photos and tales of the old cats love

I bought a bell to train mine for treats. Delivered today and this evening I’ve practised with Lebowski. He almost has the hang of it, knocking it off the side for attention mainly. Will work with Bader and the kittens over the weekend. Pic below.

We survived our first week together. Here is his first week settling in - 4 minutes from many hours of footage!

Yes, we are smitten with our kitten.

Many thanks, I am sure there will be a lot of footage hitting his channel over coming years. I had never used youtube before to publish stuff and don’t have any editing tools apart from the DJI fly drone app, so it will remain very amateur.

Still, it’s nice to contribute to the thread as I have been looking at all the brilliant cats and kittens on here for ages.

Davinci Resolve can edit to a very high standard, and is free.

I think your videos would look better (on YouTube at least) if you held your phone horizontally.

Thanks for the advice, I think you are absolutely correct about the landscape orientation. thumbup

I have just been grabbing the phone and hitting record when it looks like something is going to happen (and frequently nothing does). Ideally I would do as you suggest, but I have a flappy cover on the phone which drops down over the lens if I turn it landscape, and getting it out of the cover would probably mean missing the action completely. I have only just mastered holding it out of the way with my pinkie in portrait as it is biggrin

I guess the real answer is to invest in a proper camera. Prepare for an entry into the frivolous purchases thread ‘cos I really have no justifiable use for such a thing smile
