I've got a barn owl and various tawny owls in my garden at various times but never had the privilege to get that close. Beautiful animals.

I decided to have a go at plastering last year. Checked what I would need tools wise and was shocked to see I would need a Hawk.
Well needless to say I dont live near a bird sanctuary so settled instead for an Owl as we had one in the house.
To be fair to the little fella he was more of a hinderence but I got the job done eventually.

The wife was annoyed but I did explain the Hawk and a plasterer would have cost a fortune so think of the saving we all know what plasterer's are like for tea and biscuits.
She still thinks I'm mental. Women eh.rolleyes

Before we had the open chimney filled by the flue for the log burner, one day whilst I was at work a rather large crow descended into our front room. There was a kerfuffle, so Mrs Champers went to investigate and was greeted to her, and the crow's,surprise, by them both standing there wondering what to do next. "It looked straight at me" she said. Now this was a crow "smarter than the average bear" who upon seeing her making a sharp exit to the kitchen, dutifully bounced behind her, and even politely waited at her feet whilst she opened the patio door to let him/her out smile

Utterly true.

Mrs Champers still refers to "Mrs Crow", hmm irked
Very intelligent birds.

We've got a lot of Jackdaws in our tree and they are super clever. Also once they know you they can be very friendly! When Mrs G is in the garden they often come up to her when she's in the area that we put wild birdseed out as much as to ask for food.

Sort of like a cross between pheasant and parrot. But nowhere near as tasty as squirrel yum

It's the only thing they understand..!
