Looking at various BMW, now obviously which would be the best? Whats the difference between the engines other than the size.

Which is best? Depends entirely on your needs and priorities.

What age are you looking at? Have a look at Wikipedia or the BMW website, all the technical info on the engines is there.

If you're going for the newer shape 1 series
avoid the 114i, the 116 and 118 have the same engine but the 118 is tuned to produce 33bhp more, however if you get a stage one remap on either they should both get to the same 200bhp.

The 120i has 7 more bhp than the 118 and i believe is more efficient.
The 125i has a really sweet engine 215bhp stock but remaps to 290 easily.
However although inefficient the 135i has the only 3l engine in the range so it comes with 315bhp stock. This is the same engine architecture as the m2.

Most of the diesel engined cars from around 2007 to 2011ish when they should have the replacement parts fitted from new, engine code N47.

Out of the 125i, 130i and 135i which would you recommend?
