Just got myself an s7, problem is due to the slightly curved screen, using a tempered glass protector wont fit with the spigen case i bought unless i get a 90% fit one which i dont like the look of.

So basically i am using a film protector, will the case itself stop the screen cracking if i dropped it? Its got a lip all around the phone so screen would likely not touch the floor if dropped.

Should have gone for a S7 active. Shatter-resistant screen.

No-one else has chimed in yet so it might as well be me biggrin

You need a screen protector as much as you need one of these

or some of these

Free yourself from those chains, brother!

A screen protector stops your screen smashing, why not use one?

...and of course you know that those earthing straps have copper wires running through them to ground.

Oh, you didn't. Obviously.

What a terrible comparison, i'd much rather pay £1 for a new glass screen protector when i drop my phone or scratch it up than fork out £200 for a new screen.

I use a spigen case and no screen protector on my s7 edge. The lip on the case protects the screen.
I can't see the point of sticking a cheap plastic or glass cover on the screen that Samsung spent millions on designing that has a special coating.
I have dropped it a couple of times and ok so far! Ymmv

I bought a skinomi full body skin. The front and back are still on and look fine. The sides came out and i haven't bothered replacing them. The skin goes on wet so you get a reasonable amount of time to get bubbles out. I'm not massively worried about not having a front protector but the back of the phone is vulnerable to scratches.

I do this too. Currently have a Zagg film protector on the front which went on very easily and looks fine, though aligning the buggers is always a nightmare with films. It has a slightly "rubbery" feel to it which I actually like smile

Corning should use me as a test bed for their glass (I think Samsung use their "gorilla glass"?) as no matter how careful I try to be with them, I find scratching the front of a screen ridiculously easy.

Fingers crossed mine remains okay, it has the same lip around the phone.

I have an S8 which has the edge screen. I was able to get my Spigen armour case on with the screen protector but it is a pain.

I would put the screen protector on, leave it for 12 hours or so first before you try and put the case on to allow it extra chance to stick, or live with the 90% coverage ones.

I will probably change to a 90% coverage one , I have ordered a couple new ones to be fair.

I don't really get the machismo about not using a screen protector. All of my devices would've been ravaged without them. Gorilla glass is not anti scratch, just anti shatter.

+1

Have got a Spigen tempered glass one on my 6S Plus. I actually replaced it this week as the previous one that was fitted was cracked straight across after I dropped the phone from a short distance onto a wooden floor. Hard to know for sure whether it protected the screen from this fate, but I'm not going to gamble that it didn't!

I've never used a screen protector either as when I've used friends phones with them, they just aren't as tactile.

Fingers crossed, I've never had a cracked screen or any scratches on th screen either but I do use a decent case and have dropped my phone several times.

I always keep my phone in a separate pocket though with no keys or coins able to scratch the screen.

I find little or no difference with a glass protector. One look in your average Cex window tells you that no smartphone manufacturer has ever made a scratch proof screen.
