Lovely...
Lots of breeds can have health issues and ‘very ugly’ is subjective, I think they are very cute!
There are plenty of ‘fashion’ breeds as you call it these days, don’t you have one?
Doesn’t mean they aren’t great dogs in their own ways.
Our frenchie coped fine in the 30+ heat in Croatia last week, sure certain other breeds would cope better but it didn’t stop us doing anything we wanted to do and he loved it.
I ‘don’t get’ why you felt the need to post like that in this generally very friendly corner of PH... it’s about posting pics of your dogs and not slating peoples choices or certain breeds.
He's mostly right. But completely the wrong thread to air his opinion imo...Lots of breeds can have health issues and ‘very ugly’ is subjective, I think they are very cute!

Indeed. I might be tempted to say such a dog wouldn’t be my choice to own but I wouldn’t dream of telling an owner their dog was ugly and short lived. There’s a breed of dog for everyone so enjoy the choice you made and let others enjoy their dogs.Lots of breeds can have health issues and ‘very ugly’ is subjective, I think they are very cute!

Oh, an despite it not being a breed I’d choose I do find Rocco’s pics superb, he always manages to look like the man in charge!

But not the right thread for that discussion for sure.

I can see why they aren’t for everyone of course and everyone has their own preferences and requirements, but it’s the way he wrote it that annoyed me, calling them very ugly and short lived was uncalled for and frankly rude and just pissed me off tbh.
I deleted my first couple of replies to him as they were a bit more fruity...

I don't know what you posted in your "fruity" posts but I imagine it was entirely justified. There are dogs on this thread that would certainly not be my choice of companion but I would not criticise any dog posted on here because they are all LOVED and they LOVE back and this is my go to thread each day just to see a little bit more love in an increasingly stty world.
Peace out.

As to your second point, my thoughts exactly, this thread is about posting pics of your dogs no matter what breed/size/shape etc, all dogs are awesome in my view and so much better than a lot of humans in this world, the world needs more dogs and this thread needs more pics of them

Happy Birthday, Rocco!
lazermilk, I agree with you. There are several breeds of dog on this thread which I don't particularly like, but it would be singularly inappropriate to criticise the owners for their choice.
Who are you calling ugly?? My girl friend's little Sammy, almost 4 yrs old now.

Sammy looks awfully comfy there surrounded in blankets, typical frenchie!
Very cute! You should post pics of Sammy up more often
Lazermilk - yes, Sammy's a real sweetie. Very loyal and loving to his owner; he likes nothing better than being with her. But if he hears something falling onto the floor, he can go from this:
...to a bolt of furry black lightning grabbing whatever has been dropped! I spun the plastic top off a bottle of beer and it was impossible to get it off him! Any attempts and Mummy's little sweetheart turns instant velociraptor with toothache! A couple of hours and a bribe later, we recovered the soggy remains; fortunately he hadn't swallowed anything.
Adorable little chap though - I love him to bits! Even when he chewed the expensive new bracelet I'd just had fitted to my Breitling watch.

Just collected Cooper from the vets after his ‘op’. He seems okay, a little bit squeaky and dazed. He’s being given lots of cuddles and time to snooze. Still feel guilty for choosing to castrate him!!
We felt the same after we did ours, but talking to the Vet she indicated that if you weren't going to breed from them its better for the dog. It hasn't stopped him taking out his frustrations on his dog bed and dragging it round the front room. hahaLazermilk said:

I'm sorry but I don't get French bulldog ownership! It's a fashion dog with many health problems created by in breeding.
"The French bulldog has only a single short coat. which combined with their compromised breathing system, makes it impossible for them to regulate their temperature efficiently. This means the dog may easily become cold, and are prone to heat stroke in hot and humid weather."
Plus they are very ugly and generally short lived, 8 to 10 years. My collie was 19 when we sent him to the magic woods.
