Yay....someone’s recognised his breed and not thought he’s a doodle of some sort
Sorry, doesn’t happen often!
Yes he is, and he’s not long had a full clip hence lack of curls.
It looks like a fine hairdo, did you train the person who did it or did know already? Heard they are difficult to get right

They’re only difficult to clip correctly if you want to keep within the breed standard for showing - I don’t show him so the clip isn’t critical for me.
That said, I’ve seen ones in the USA that end up looking like startled fluffed up poodles - it’s not a breed to be over groomed
I love his curls, but for where we walk every day he generally gets stted up and wet through, so a shorter cut works.
He gets a complete shave twice a year and then every 6 ish weeks has a tidy up.
Found someone local who knows what she’s doing, and also runs a grooming school.
About as long as it gets before a trim -

Me and Diesel went to our first puppy party last week, she absolutely loved it, there was a photographer there too which I thought was a fantastic thing to do, photo credit to Sue Milligan Photography

I'll believe you
PS love the dog, how's the training going [apart from the digging lol]
He's definitely calming down now and is pretty easy to train. His recall is slowly getting there now (even around other dogs). We were lucky enough to find a really, really good gun dog trainer who has massively helped us.PS love the dog, how's the training going [apart from the digging lol]
We have to bare in mind that he's only young, he's actually 1 tomorrow ! So we can't expect too much from him, esp given WHV's proclivity to have a very extended adolescence (up to 3 years old )
Overall though, one of the best things I ever did was getting him. We do lots of Viz Whizzs with him around the South West and even have setup a small FB group for Viz owners in the Chew Valley (where I live) so we tend to organise a weekly dog walk around the area which is great for getting to know new people.

I have the joy of this little chappie joining me in February. He will be working with a mental Cocker, that should be fun! They’re only difficult to clip correctly if you want to keep within the breed standard for showing - I don’t show him so the clip isn’t critical for me.

That sounds a good setup for a bit of training. Yep, 3 years plus of adolescence hopefully [my friend's 7 year old still thinks he's a puppy!] but in fairness his training is a bit laxWe have to bare in mind that he's only young, he's actually 1 tomorrow ! Ah fabulous!
Is he also going to be working?
How old is he?
I am to be swayed on the working side, I shall see when I get him. He will definitely have training. Apparently he has had truffle hunting training / experience. Is he also going to be working?

He will be 7 months when I get him, sadly the people had to let him go do to illness. I feel for them, they are very sad about it.

Must be very hard for them - can’t imagine having to let mine go.He will be 7 months when I get him, sadly the people had to let him go do to illness. I feel for them, they are very sad about it.
I’m keen to get Leo on the truffles - we have many old oak and ash trees near us, so might be worth a go.
Have you had a Grot before?
If not, and for lots of very valuable info from owners, there’s a very good FB page for the LRA.
Notice you’re in Lincolnshire- I’m just down the A46 between Nottingham and Melton.

Never heard of "Grot", could you enlighten me?I’m keen to get Leo on the truffles - we have many old oak and ash trees near us, so might be worth a go.

I will join the LRA site shortly, are you a member of any of the clubs?
We are not too far from each, perhaps we can catch up once he settles down?
He's not in this country so I am waiting for the transport company. Good thing is I am bringing in new genes to a small pool in this country

They rather enjoy getting very muddy and actively seek out water... hence the name
I’m not a member of any club, but use the FB group lots.
It is a small pool over here, but the breeders we have are well known and very good
I assume he’s had his health checks done and you’ll have the appropriate certificates?
There’s a few things this breed can suffer from including juvenile epilepsy and Lysosomal Storage disease, (LSD) and any breeder will have their dogs genetically tested for these before breeding.
I spent 10 months researching various breeders here and abroad but ended up with a year old dog from a breeder in Leicestershire, complete with all certificates.
Won’t be breeding from him though, as his balls have gone..

Grot I am about to install a shower outside for the dogs, well a mixing valve and pipework, for the very pleasure. They rather enjoy getting very muddy and actively seek out water... hence the name

I have all the relevant, parents breeding certs and health checks. TBH not buying him for the purpose of breeding, but if it helps then I will consider it. And I wouldn't breed unless his tests are clear, I believe he is too young at the moment anyway.
Our boy, Oscar is 1 year old today !
He's enriched all of our lives immeasurably and given us so many great experiences, frustration and genuine laugh out loud moments ! Wouldn't swap a single second
A bit of a chronology, hope you don't mind !
First time we met him
Sign of things to come !
Few weeks after we got him home
Got the hump because we got stair gates
Chilling
Starting to get wiry
Being a spaz
Hates going in the boot - we call this 'bootface'
Loves water
And hikes
All in all, best thing we ever decided to do was get this nutter...We're already talking about getting another
