Our Lakeland is ready for a summer coat strip so ive bought this. http://simpsons-online.co.uk/shop/dog-grooming-cou...
Ive tried it on an inconspicuous spot and not convinced this wont ruin his coat.
It removes plenty of dead undercoat but is taking a fair bit of the hard outer coat with it.
How much of the outer coat is it acceptable to take off ?,I I wont be showing him but I don't want him turning into a fluff ball as he's a keen hunter so needs plenty of protection from the weather and brambles.
He's 10 month old so will be first time ive had to do this.

Have tried the Coat King rakes but found it was easy to take to much new coat out, might have been using it wrong but having better results with the above.

The old school way was with your own fingers. Takes some skill though!!

Would it be worth asking a grooming parlour what they use? I know stripping scissors are popular but again you probably ought to observe someone using them.

I know if hand stripping it is usually done over two or three days as it takes time and the dogs needs breaks but it does give the best look and avoids removing wanted hair!
