I'm not susceptible to biting insects. Got bitten by a spider once, and a friend's dog gave me fleas, but that's about it.

We have a wild flower meadow, and over the weekend, I went through it in shorts (as I have doen countless times in the past), and something has bitten the crap out of my lower legs. Nothing above the knee, but my shins and calves are in a bit of a mess, and the itching is driving me insane!

I've never suffered from biting stuff in long grass before (I grew up surrounded by farms, so spent a lot of time at risk), so what is it that's suddenly gone for me?

I've found no evidence of any creatures, but the bites are driving me mad! Anthisan doesn't seem to have any effect.

Did it draw blood? I keep getting bitten by something in the long damp grass down the side of my house.

Think it may be a deer fly.

No blood drawn.

It's not fleas. I've had flea bites before. And fleas are dead easy to catch, because they are slow biters.

Exactly. It's not mosquitos, fleas or ticks, and I doubt it's ants. I'm pretty sure it's bites though, not an allergy.

Nibblers, definitely nibblers.

Or plant allergy. Only you know what plants you have.

e.g. Parsnip plants and their wilder relatives (which you may well have in a meadow) can make skin photosensitive.
