Until around a year ago I had an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog which are reasonably rare over here. Sadly they are becoming the new breed of trophy dog in this part of the country, hence I/we got her as a rescue, having had five owners at ten months old. She was very messed up but I spent two years with her 24/7 training her up to be frankly amazing. I very sadly lost her as part of a frankly selfish and messy break up last year. In the right hands though, a fantastic dog. I'd have another tomorrow.
I like Alaphas's but like american bulldogs from certain lines they can be a very nervous breed. You can breed it out like any trait in a dog. Good on you for giving her the home she deserves. I get offered dogs on a weekly basis and it is very sad.

the black dog - was anyone else thinking devlis' dog?
My immediate thought was "Hound of the Baskervilles" Logan would still try and fight it

If you ever need a transporter when you buy i can put you in touch if you do not know of anyone.
Thanks for the offer, I will keep it in mind.I have my eye on a few breeders and have been in contact so will see what is around next year.
We almost bought a beautiful girl a few months ago, but my other dog can be quite unforgiving of others so he's back in training and has now been castrated as he felt the need to dominate other males continually.

The lady i use is from Russia, Moscow Irena and Victor husband and wife, Wonderful people to deal with and their English is very good also. They are good friends of mine and my other half. They go round Europe once a month and then meet them in Calais. She owns some of the best Russian Terriers around and is a proper dog women as is her husband. Most breeders in Europe use them. 500 euros is the most you would pay for transport.I have my eye on a few breeders and have been in contact so will see what is around next year.

She also finds dogs for what people want and loves her working type dogs. Never ask for a designer colour dog though as she will not accomodat them.

It was probably around a year ago when walking ours, we met a couple with two Italian Spinones - they seemed quite surprised when I guessed what they were.
And a couple of weeks ago we met another couple with an Italian Greyhound. At first I thought it was a whippet puppy, but then realised it was an iggy.
There are a couple of spinone by us, can't ever recall seeing one before. And a couple of weeks ago we met another couple with an Italian Greyhound. At first I thought it was a whippet puppy, but then realised it was an iggy.
Met a turkish pointer the other day, looked almost identical to rhe english pointer it was with but apparently the nose is different, he had it stuck in the grass chasing grasshoppers so I didn't get to compare
i saw a programme on Nat Geo a while ago called "Russia's toughest prisons" - it had a piece in it about a prison called The Black Dolphin which is in Siberia - they use Ovcharka's there as prison guard dogs. im not sure which type, but they are absolutely huge. with very thick, deep coats.
like the ones above, but like a grown Bear. ive never seen a dog as big.

Unbelievable in size but perfectly built for Siberia.
They use them in the prisons as perimeter guards mainly. My boy Jack last pic i posted came from Russia. MeMe came from Poland, Coco from Hunguary and Chakra from the UK.
I met my first ovachakra in Holland a few years ago at bullforce kennels, it was Chakras grand sire.
Amazing dogs will never let you down. They are a livestock guardian and you can watch some good vids on you tube. taking on bears and wolves etc. Most will not accept strangers straight away and takes time to gain trust but they love what they know. Mine run with the horses, pigs and sheep and guard the farm as well.
Pic of MeMe with my other half.
Some of Jacks dogs in his pedigree.
