Beautiful things the odd time I get to see them, Shame they’re so shy and hideously expensive
Blast from the past, I used to have quite a large collections of Loricariidae in the UK although never any Hypans.

Not had a tank for 5 years, considering sneaking one into our new house whilst the wife is in the UK beginning of December, shop near us has some lovely juvenile L200 Hi Fins...

I know you’ve reduced your light hours but have you tried any of the things I recommended last week?

The new cabinet frame is complete, just panels and feet to attach.

Fit Filtration in Sheffield. The service is second to none and after they helped me with boxfish-gate, I couldn't really go anywhere else! They have been building top end tanks for years, so I trust their quality too.

I did look at A4L when I was shopping around for the original tank, but at the time they were on a 6 month lead time for builds, and no matter how we tried to work around other tradesmen, it just didn't fit with our house renovation schedule.
They are based in the next village to where I went to school, and it was a tough decision to go elsewhere at the time.

What's the fish at the bottom?

6 months now since I set up the first tank and I think I'm finally there with the stocking levels just added 4 pearl gouramis which are bit drab looking ATM but hopefully the colour will come through.
Setting up then and now. Gouramis hiding behind the plants currently.

Also set up a 2nd tank for a guppy tank however I've had zero luck keeping them alive despite zero nitrite or ammonia only one adult left and a load of babies so it's now a grow out tank for the babies from the livebears in the main tank. Just added 3 gold Lazer Corry cats. Also growing a large number of yellow shrimp my god those things don't half breed quick.

Pearl gourami are absolutely a fish that's a little lacking in store/first introduction but develop into utter beauties!

Yea seen videos with them and are beautiful in a well.set up tank. They have a little red in them ATM but apart from that quite bland. Also they seem pretty chilled for a gourami compared to other and didn't want a fish that would upset the other already in there 3 female 1 male.

Total so far
6 Cory cats
8 danios did have 10 1 swam into the filter housing and died other found a Skelton
3 swordtail
5 Molly's
6 platys
5 black neon tetras
5 cherry barbs
4 hillstream loaches
4 gouramis
And a load of babies I try and remove to the 2nd tank if I can catch them.
4ft tank 260 liters so think I'm pretty much on the limit with the fx5 filter. Nitrates stay around 10-20 nitrite and ammonia zero so far so good.

It’s a weather loach. It was rescued from a family members 25l tank (far too small!) and initially I was dubious about keeping it. It is very friendly and peaceful though and has grown huge in the year I’ve had it! Highly recommend to anyone that wants something a bit different.

That certainly is a beaut of a fish fair play. Nice set up btw loving the angels too.

Thank you smile

The angels are a lovely pair most of the time although they will eat smaller fish is a real pain! Plus the male occasionally goes psycho and forces all the other fish to hide in the corner, a couple of hours of solitary confinement soon sorts that out though!

I do recommend them but you do need a 200l plus size tank to avoid issues.

Also if anyone wants help with their setup feel free to send me a private message. My tank is nowhere near as good as some on here but it is certainly very healthy and easy to maintain. Perfectly for my needs as I don’t have much free time.

Had the phone call today. Tank has arrived at the shop! Have moved the old one Tonight into position to ease the transfer. Plan is to pick up on Sunday. Bit scared now….

But also a little excited!

Keeping a weather loach in a tropical aquarium will shorten their life, they will grow faster and maybe bigger but they really need cooler temps.

Hang on back or sponge filter will do set the tank up get a API test kit and follow some online guides on cycling a tank kg tropical so some great videos on YouTube.
Smaller ta KS can be a bit harder too maintain though and keep stable but. Good luck and hope it works out.
