That’s exactly what it’s like in my household. The cats will just sit there staring at the dog. Sometimes at the top of the stairs, sometimes blocking a doorway. The dog is then stuck. She doesn’t dare to go past, despite she’s now five times bigger than them. It’s hilarious.

Exactly the same at ours.

Big fat black cat either guards the stairs or the entrance to the kitchen. Cue much whimpering from the dogs

Yep, when we had cats, Daisy was st scared of the eldest one.

I remember once, Daisy was in her basket, minding her own business, Pepper (boss cat and eldest), decided she fancied going in there, in she went snuggling into the corner and gradually pushing Daisy to the side, Daisy froze in this really uncomfortable looking position whilst Pepper made herself comfortable. Bloody hilarious.

That's basically my dog. Terrified of cats, well everything really, with hedgehogs a particular nemesis.

She will happily chase a squirrel. But even then, I suspect if the squirrel stood their ground, it would be the same!

They have learnt to never ever trust a cat.

A cat will come up all friendly pushing its head into your hand, then just when you have relaxed, it will change in a flash and sink its claws into you. Possessed by the devil.

We have two cats and two dogs, the cats rule the roost but they all get on well as long as the dogs remember who is in charge.

A bit like being married really.

Our cat passed away last year but ruled the house even in her old age.
The dog was much bigger and much heavier but knew not to mess with the cat.

Our first cat chased a dog the length of the garden and watched it jump over the fence and land on its ballocks in the garden behind us. 20 foot lower than when it took off. The fence was 10 foot on thier side, but about 5 foot on our side.

Mind you that one had come from a rescue, via a plastic bin bag in the middle of a dual carriage way and was vicious to everyone and every living thing.

The kids recall trying to make friends with it, wearing my leather gloves and safety goggles.

Our last Cat (rip) used to dive bomb our last dog (rip) from the dining table, or window sill, but when he was ill, and about to be put down with heart failure, she came and lay with him, as we made him comfortable for his last night at home.

Out cat is fairly normal, will avoid a dog but would attack if cornered however, one of our neighbours has got one of those Bengal cats that look like little leopards and that attacks any animal that moves. It will even stand its ground against people.

It has its own little posse and they were terrorising all the other cats, ours lost a bit of ear and constantly came back with little bits of blood in its fur (unfortunately the owner put a flyer around that its companion cat had gone missing and we haven't seen it since)

Bet that one would terrorise a lot of dogs.

We had a cat that did the friendly/psycho switch routine to one of the dogs, the dog kept ignoring the cat until one day the dog decided she had had enough and put the cat back in its place by snapping at the cat.

The cat wasn't stupid, the realisation that the dogs jaws could easily accommodate her entire head soon curtailled the cats bullying ways...
