Could be a juvenile robin, but not sure it's the right time of year?

Someone with more knowledge than me will along soon I expect.

Seconded, dunnock, note the grey areas. They have a lovely song to. Sometimes they're called a hedge sparrow but they aren't sparrows.

Yeah I like them too. We had a pair at our last place, always flitting around inn the bottom of the hedges, until something used the feeder and they picked up the crumbs that got shaken off.....

You guys seem to know your birds, here are two more.

This one crashed into my patio door, then sat there stunned while I took some photos

This one I think is a different bird? its on top of a very high tree, hence the poor image.

Buzzard...they like to sit still and just keep watch.

Also, have a pretty stocky round body with dull plumage and a short tail...

You know the birds Turn7, thank you.
As you say, this one just sat at the top of the tree for most of the morning.
I was thinking Red Kite, but they never seem to land, we get loads of them zooming around all day.

Although buzzards are usually seen cruising for a bruising they can be quite spectacular when they go into a dive. I've only seen that once when a pair were doing a courtship display that was really great to behold.

The grey head makes it look like a Red Kite to me.

Definitely not a Buzzard, and I and Google Lens would agree, Red Kite.

And Google Lens said Dunnock too. Really can't recommend it enough for flora and fauna identification...

Now you say that, having given the original pic a bit more time, I am inclined to agree, especially with Kites in the OP's vicinity....

I stand corrected sir !

Can see the tail in the flying pictures. Grey patch on the underside of the wings too. Easy to spot.
