And you all know how much me and Reggie appreciate that. He has been quite lethargic today which I guess is a good thing. Still very incontinent but the worse thing he has no idea he has done anything.
Am helping him express his wee three times a day followed by a dog bed bath.
Which is fun for the neighbours watching!!

Its exactly one year to the day we received the scan results that Bert had a widespread very aggressive tumour. I slept alongside him in his den overnight, I remember i was holding his paw when he placed his other paw on top of my hand - I d felt such a sudden rush of love that felt ethereal (and Im not a spiritual person). We said goodbye the following morning as the final kindest thing we could do.
Mother nature decided children weren't for us so he was my fur child, I was absolutely broken for a long time afterwards.
He had an amazing life, he d done all the major peaks in the UK in all weathers, loved canoeing and paddle boarding, and camping/roadtrips all over Europe.
Life since has found me volunteering at our local animal sanctuary and giving their dogs similar adventures, we have fallen for one of their dogs but to be honest Bert was such a good and very rare dog (Karelian Bear Dog) I knew at the time he was spoiling things for any future dog so we aren't 100% there yet.
Love ya Bert and miss you.

I ve spent the weekend anniversary of Berts passing helping dogs who have never had anywhere near the life Bert had.
Took my mate Tucker out yesterday for a quick paddle,

and again this morning for a few hours walk, poor lad was tired out!

Brought him back to Bleakholt and then took my favourite flooffball out - Elfie!!! She s had a few homing s but they haven t worked out. She is young and very skittish and nervous if she doesn t know you but is a bundle of joy and fun with me.

Finally borrowed Ace and ended walking alongside a young couple who were taking Norman the bulldog for a trial walk. Good luck Norman!!

A few tough reads lately
Meggy is still plodding along, but not sure for how much longer, she got stuck with her back legs splayed out yesterday and just could not get up.
Meggy accepted Maisie into the pack straight away, funny how little ones find the pecking order so soon, Maisie seems to show Meg respect and give her space without any need for correcting from Meg. Dottie has come around to a minime, but finds her a bit full on some times. And Pip, well Pip doesn't seem to do pups despite being the youngest, still avoiding Maisie, all the reverse of what I expected.
Maisie is sleeping through the night without a need for the toilet now (thank god, didn't like the 3am wake up lol)

My deepest condolences to all of you who suffered the loss of beloved ones, lost for words as the last pages left me cracking up, even the lovely stories made me cry.
Amazing how these furry buggers bring out the true self...
Might I try to cheer everyone up by posting pics from the sunday at the lake, Teddy with his best friend Henry had a cracking time in the water and outside, completely knackered on the way home and later in the evening.
Best wishes to all of you, esp your doggies!!

Your earlier post made me shed a tear. So sorry for what you are going through.
There is a charity, I think called the cinnamon trust, Where people walk others dogs.
I think you could find someone who would look after Reggie during the day whilst you are at work from somewhere like this.
Good luck to you mate. You really are going through it at the moment

I used to volunteer using a service called borrow my dog. You paid something like £10 a year, but his provided you with liability insurance and emergency Vet cover when you borrowed someone’s dog. Your earlier post made me shed a tear. So sorry for what you are going through.

The gentleman whose dog I used to borrow “look after” daughter had a horrendous life altering car crash. I used to look after his dog whenever he went to the hospital / rehab.
I know this isn’t reliable everyday care. But you would be amazed at the amount of wonderful people who love animals but can’t have them for various reasons. But can devote time to other people’s dogs for free.
Maybe that could be an option.
