We had new neighbours move in just before Xmas, they have totally blanked us every time we have tried making conversations.

Fair enough we thought. However our other neighbour to the rear pointed out today they had put anti cat spikes all around their garden to stop our cats using their garden as a shortcut.

We have never had a problem with the old neighbours about our cats messing in there.

Guess they are just miserable gits.

most likely upset with cats soiling their garden, looks like they take a bit of pride in it

Maybe they don't want cat st in their garden? Or prefer birds to visit their garden?

Are you actually allowed to put that sort of thing on fences?

I thought there were restrictions.

That is the rear neighbours garden they have no issues at all with our cats. and we have never had complaints about our cats spoiling in the 20 years we’ve lived here.

Are you sure they are to stop cats. The previous owner of our house put then on the fences to stop "druggies stealing his stuff" apparently. The local cats just jumped over them.

My neighbour put a load of that anti cat spike stuff on the shared fence, took him ages. The worst money ever spent as the cats just slink over it hehe

I have two cats and feel sorry for the neighbour who's garden they decide to use as a toilet.

If the neighbour wanted to create a safe deterrent to stop my cats going on their property, i'd be very happy for them to do so. I'd probably be happy to contribute to the cost too.

They appear to have turned it into a giant litter tray

I love cats, always had one or two on the go. But I realise they are not everyone's cup of tea and that's fine.

So why have you posted a picture of your rear neighbour's garden?

Maybe a bit more balanced?

And yes this is it - they are more anti-pigeon and anti-squirrel.

Ive had to put some spikes up on my fence to make sure the cats don't come through my garden, main reason is cat poop, other is my dog doesn't entertain cats and the last thing I need is a cat in pieces. My old neighbours totally understood when I spoke to them, they had a cat that used to tease my old dog, the spikes saved any upset.

At my old place a neighbour put those up as he had an issue with "my" cats pooping in his garden after he put shingle down over the whole garden - apparently his dog and cats NEVER did it and it was just mine; he felt a bit silly when I showed him video of his cat chitting and then 30 mins later him getting in a huff and flinging his cats st against my back door. Some people are just odd.

Either way the cats can walk straight over those spikes - some will slow down a bit and tip-toe across but most cats don't seem bothered by them.

My little cat would just tip toe around those spikes

My big lazy cat would simply impale my small cat on them and use her carcass as a bridge.

If he could be arsed.

To be honest it’s more the fact they didn’t talk to us if the have a problem that annoys us.
They have lived here 2 months and never acknowledged I’d once.

The cats don’t give a monkeys as they just walk around the spikes.

I wish I knew who's bd cat was doing it. Would be ideal if it was next door as I could just give it back to them over the fence. I'm sure they'd understand.

We had a neighbour who did this. It made zero difference to the cats....
