That looks so much better!

Would love a marine tank, are they time intensive?

You get out what you put in....

You can have something up and running without too much effort and cash. Mine wasnt VAST by some standards but still cost around £10k to get up and running and then a few hours a week. Not to mention the hassle of going on holiday, having a busy week at work....that was always when something went wrong!

It was nice.....but I have to admit, when I finally shut it down, there was an element of slight relief! Won't do another until I retire.

in response mine is a 4ft tank which cost me £150 second hand. the sump i made from an old second hand tank for £30

Equipment wise I have the following.

Vortech MP10WES x 2 - £300
Return pump - £60
Skimmer BM Curve 5 - £160
LEDS IT120 x2 - £300
Reactor £40

coral etc can become expensive if you buy big bits but most of mine has been grown from small frags. all in all though its not a cheap hobby because you can get hooked and spend loads. plus it does take up time. more just doing things like water changes and cleaning the glass etc.

Im looking to upgrade my tank now and i would like better quality kit but the tank alone is £1,600 for a decent steal framed 5 foot tank with sump. i would love Radion lights and they are £650 each i would really need 3 units but could get away with 2.

on the upside if you do have an extablished tank you can sell coral frags which my brother did for a year and managed to have enough cash to fund his entire upgrade on his tank.
