Very.
It’s a country I’m desperate to visit - how did you find it at that time?
Don’t have anything on my iPad so somebody else please carry on.

Spectacular. Incredibly friendly, hospitable people, we were invited into peoples' homes and to a wedding. We strayed well off the beaten track and a bit near the Iraqi border going to the wedding and were stopped by a policeman and taken to the station and a random passerby insisted on coming in the car with us to make sure we were Ok. As it turned out they hadn't seen a foreigner before and as we couldn't communicate they took us back to base to find someone who could. As it turned the police chief spoke French smile This was '97. They're well did of the Shah, but don't want the loonies that took over.

Big eff-off spoil heap from mining operations, I'm guessing. Let's plump for a diamond mine in SA or Namibia.

It is, but not Devils Golf Course.
On the road from Furnace creek to Badwater, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Places_of_interest_i...

I think The Don mentioned Death Valley first.

Reason it looks like that is flash flood dominated, so when you do get water flowing it erodes quickly. It also looks quite mudstone/shale dominated, so will erode quickly with running water. The colours are related to the conditions when the rocks were deposited. It could be different minerals, but likely the more red colour is when there was fully oxidation of the iron happening, whereas the more green colours come from a reducing environment.

I think.

There was loads of them around York with the Christmas markets. Most were sponsored by the local shops. Here’s another couple:
