Gran Turismo Sport PS4
Discussion
I've noticed that Beta versions for this are doing the rounds now and there are numerous clips on YouTube.
On previous PS3 versions we had a healthy collective taking part in race series, time trials and the like, which was pretty much the majority of time I spend on the game. Are we likely to get it going on PS4, too?

As soon as there is a release date for the full game, that's when I will get purchase a PS4. I even upgraded to a Logitech G29 (from a G25) so I'm ready for day one.
I know GT6 has been slated for the not so great engine sounds but when watching the GT Sport YouTube vids, I've noticed no change in sounds. Then again, they are Beta versions and I was watching the videos on an iPad.

In cockpit sounds are a lot better than previous GT games, whine of sequenchial box, decent engine note but with the "BONG" when you hit something and that ever present tyre squeal.
In replays the cars do sound a lot like normal road cars (IE a bit flat and boring) however each car does sound different, you can tell a V8 from a Inline 4 for example.

The problem is sound has been an issue for at least 3-4 games now and it's such a glaring omission, especially when compared to similar titles. I read for the last one that they re-recorded all the sounds but either they were lying or yet again they are getting too caught up in making it accurate. It's all well and good placing 26 mics in the car and taking 102 samples but if it still sounds rubbish then you need to try something else. Sometimes they need to step back from the technology and remember they are trying to make a fun computer game.

For me the fun part is missing... Forza has bright colourful presentation I fire up Gran Turismo and I'm presented bland looking menus complete with god awful elevator style music... I'd far rather be navigating through a Driveclub esque style menu complete with its background music playing. As for the online part of the beta haven't managed to get into a race yet due to server issues so I'm left setting hot laps. I was really looking forward to the game but can't help but feel its missed the mark thus far...
I still can't believe there is no ability to damage the cars! I can't at the moment think of other racing franchises that don't have cosmetic damage at the very least!
