Picking someone up next week from the above, is it worth the 4-5min free transfer bus from the long stay car park with 2 hours free parking or is it easier to park in the short stay and pay through the nose?

Does your pickup have a phone?

If they do you could camp up in the McDonalds+BP just off the end of the M32 spur and drive the 4min to the pickup point when they call to say "I'm stood outside".

I'd be impressed if you can do M32 to Gatwick in 4 minutes! biggrin But the same on the M23 is a good idea.
Everytime I collect someone from Gatwick they always get delayed so you could end up with some extra charges if that were to happen.

Watch out if you overstay in Macs The dreaded PPC devil eye will get you. BUT if you get a ticket DO NOTHING until you have logged into pepipoo.com in the Private parking tickets thread.
These guys will help you out so you dont have to spend anything towards these converted knuckle dragging car clampers!!

One thing though on pepipoo,ALWAYS tell the truth ,dont fudge, they do take a dim view of it.

If you want to know how desperate they are, read up the threads on John Lennon Airport, Robin Hood airport etc.

Mate of mine did this recently, I thought he was being a bit tight but it all worked out no problem.

Thanks for the replies, I think the best option is the free bus from the long stay for 2 hours free parking

Can't you time it so you can get roughly when they'll come out of baggage reclaim? Check online for landing time, allow 45 mins or so to get off the plane and get backs. Park in the short stay and hopefully will be less than 30 mins at £3.50 (ish)
