The Good Lady Her Indoors and I are heading to Newcastle for a weekend - arriving late Friday and leaving mid-afternoon Sunday.

Any recommendations for stuff to do, places to eat etc? Not looking for a mad party weekend raving til 5am but just a fun relaxed weekend.

Hop on the Metro to Tynemouth. Have a mooch around the Priory/beach and then eat here:

There's a market on the quayside on Sundays. Worth a stroll along and then pop over the millennium bridge to the Baltic gallery and sage concert hall.

If you like pubs, the ouseburn valley is well worth a look. A few great pubs there and often live music.

Loads of nice restaurants and bars in the city itself but I'm hopelessly out of date so someone else may be able to help more there.

Tynemouth is a good idea. Busy but lovely.

Theres also quite a large market held inside tynemouth metro station on a saturday, antiques, bric a brac and stuff, some of it quite interesting. You could combine it with a visit to rileys!

If the weathers naff then the Discovery museum, The Hancock museum and the Baltic are worth a look and all free.
