Dream Beach Holiday - Ideas pls
Discussion
It's my 50th next year. Lady B's the following year.
So now the kids are old enough to stay at home we're looking at completing our dream holidays.
Lady B likes the Sun. Nice lazy chilled holiday. Very little sightseeing (1/2 days perhaps). Golden white beaches. Budget is £5K for 10/14 nights. Can stretch to another 20%. Dolphins swimming nearby would be good, Hut on the water to stay in one night. That kind of thing.
Initially looking at Mauritius.
Ideas for destinations/resorts would be gratefully received

If you're going to go to Mauritius, I would advise that you go towards the end of the year (October/November) any earlier and the weather just isn't hot enough. Go any later (Decemeber/Jan) and you'll be roasting your nuts off/ in the cyclone season. Resort wise, take a look towards Flic en Flac, it's the nicest part of the island. Plenty of hotels to choose from, comes down to personal preference ultimately.
In terms of going out looking for some dolphins etc- I'd strongly advise you to take out a catamaran/boat and go to Illot Gabriel, which is a uninhabited island. It's utterly beautiful and there's some amazing snorkeling to be done if you drop anchor just off of the beach. We saw a pod of Killer Whales and dolphins- plenty of flying fish too!
If you have any more specific questions about the island, please drop me a PM, I know it very well!

I liked Mauritius it was nice. Stayed at a Lux. Excellent service etc. Lovely island.
Should fit your budget pretty easy.
There's also Reunion nearby that could be worth a look? And the Seychelles, although I think expensive.
You could maybe stretch the the Maldives, try some dates and stuff here: http://www.simplymaldivesholidays.co.uk/search-res...
Wouldn't be as luxurious but would have the proper desert island feel and everything you've described.
My favourite island in the Caribbean was Antigua and I really liked Jolly Beach so could be worth a look. A lot cheaper to do most of the Caribbean but I didn't enjoy a lot of it. I know a lot of people here recommend Sugar Beach St Lucia but it might be outside budget.
Good luck OP and I hope you have a great time!

Sandals (or equivalent).
Pick your Caribbean island of preference.
We loved Grand Antigua Resort & Spa (though it's about to close for 5 months refurb).
All inclusive (including diving).
Cost us about £6.8k for 14 days in August. Shorter duration would of course bring the price down.

(Great experience of Sandals in Antigua, but a few years ago now.)

I stayed in La Pirogue in Flic en Flac in one of the bungalows in the grounds. Thought it was a wonderful place but would agree re time of year to go.AshBurrows said:
Yeah, if you want to go for 2 days. I don't even see how Maldives is doable tbh!
I did think that. Or 1 day if you want to have some wine whilst you are there.
Maldives should be doable. Actually some reasonable deals there.
Other less luxurious option (wonderful but less Sandals and more exploratory) would be Sri Lanka. I did a week in a penthouse suite, 2 terraces (one over the Indian ocean and one over the jungle behind), hot tub on the terrace etc etc, for about £2.5k earlier this year. Best mate was getting married on a beach nearby and it was an utter bargain. Yes, far less polished to other places mentioned but a beautiful place.

WOT HE ALSO SAID.
I am booked to go to Sandals Antigua 28th November for 10 days. I am a bit concerned now!!!
Oh, seems that you're going to be out of luck I am booked to go to Sandals Antigua 28th November for 10 days. I am a bit concerned now!!!
I trust that Sandals will give you a free transfer to another island of your choice.
Not good if you particularly wanted Antigua though.
Already been on to British Airways. They are reallocating people in date order i.e. I won't get an offer for a couple of weeks. Already looking around as they say I will be fully refunded if not acceptable offer. Already going to Barbados September and St Lucia in February so doesn`t leave a lot left that floats my boat so to speak. Been looking at Mauritius instead anyone got any other recommendations for early December. Nothing to rustic/exotic as the wife doesn`t do 3rd world.
