Mendig Germany

I'm off to Mendig in August for the European SEAT meeting (I run the UK owners club) we are staying near Mendig Friday - Monday.

On the Saturday I'm going to the show and on Sunday want to do some sightseeing around local area.

Have been The Ring several times, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Koblenz what else is around the area?

The Rhine's not far away, how about a leisurely cruise?

Maybe too far away,Speyer museum is 1h40m travel.

A Rhine cruise is nice, the stretch South of Koblenz is more interesting that the section towards Cologne (lots of castles etc, and nice towns to walk round), It's worth getting a train from Koblenz to wherever you fancy starting your cruise - even Mainz is only an hour away - somewhere like Bacharach would be a good start point (30 mins by train) then cruise back towards Koblenz, as the flow of the river makes this direction much faster. A lot of the cruise boats terminate at Boppard rather than Koblenz, but this is only 15 mins by train back to Koblenz.

When I was in Koblenz, I fancied going to this museum, but didn't have time https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g1... which has lots of tanks and military hardware. If you like that kind of thing.
