Package deal for solo traveller San Fran
Discussion
A friend is acting on my recommendation to go to San Francisco but is a solo traveller and as usual room rate attract a premium.
Does anyone have a recommendation who to use specifically for something like this or is it a case of trip advisor/ one of the many booking sites and putting a package together? She's after direct flights from Manchester if poss but can go anytime September or October.
I've had a look and it seems v expensive for 5 or 7 nights as a singleton !

I'd recommend Air BnB. I stayed in SF a few years ago in a wonderful family home in Oakland. The house had a self-contained apartment with separate access in a good area and the family were very welcoming and friendly. I was with my daughter at the time, at the beginning of a fly-drive down the PCH, but that would have been ideal for a solo traveller.
It's worth noting that Air BnB charges can get a lot cheaper nearer the dates you're travelling, so it can be worth leaving the booking until very late. You can 'prior approval', so that all you need to do is confirm your booking at the last minute.

If your friend organises their own trip rather than using a tour company then there is no single surcharge obviously.
The USA is probably the easiest country in the world to travel to solo, over the last decade plus I've visited 47 States on numerous road trips totalling nearly 50k miles and I've never once paid a surcharge for a single room, in fact most of the time I only ever book the first and last night hotels, the rest of the trip is just ad-hoc, there are so many motels that you're never without options for a room.
