I often book early, if it's somewhere I really want go.

Can't do this time round, due to personal stuff, looks like we're going to wing it.

Clearly if you are wanting to be specific on particular dates, flights or location you may need to book early. But what is the consensus on booking early (to try and get some sort of early bird discount) or book late and get a late booker discount? Or doesn't it make a differemce these days?

Personally I'm usually confirming things about 3 months out so maybe not getting the benefit of either approach.

Yeah yeah. 131 million passengers last year and now cancelled 2% of them.

Europe's largest airline. Too big to fail.

Booked 3 weeks in Florida for august 18.
Actually booked it in February and the villa was booked may 2016!!
Taking me that long to pay for it and still won't have saved enough!! But what the hell, only live once!

Yep, Canada 2 weeks to be fair we go every year but this time we chose to do the motorhome thing so I booked the biggest RV we could get to allow us to get closer to nature than we do normally.

Hotels and travelling hours in each direction was taking its toll.

It has taken 12 years for me to convince the wife to do it. I blamed it on my 50th next year and I won.

I have already worked out the 2000km route and the stops and campgrounds smile

We have used a similar strategy for Florida.

We went to Florida this time last year and booked it 11 months in advance (When the flights became available), however, next trip will be June 2019 and I'm already thinking about saving for it. Interesting how early you booked your villa. We may deploy that tactic again.

In the mean time, we booked a holiday village in Turkey for June 2018. Just a week with some friends and their kids. We will have number two at that point and they will four months old, so god knows what that will be like.

I had a trip for 2018 booked since last year. Doing a cruise up to St Petersburg on Cunard Queen Elizabeth in May.

I went to St Jean De Monts when I was a kid, staying in a Keycamp mobile home (think they got acquired by Eurocamp?). Some good holidays.

Matt..

Every day is summer holidays.

Actually, that’s not strictly true - there’s a couple of months when we have to put jumpers on to eat outside at night wink

Yep. A week in a air conditioned mobile home thingy at euro camp in corsica. That and flights for the 5 of us for about £1900- pretty good I think.

We did euro camp (well siblu) in the loire 2 summers ago and the format is great for the kids.

We do the same, Villa and flights get booked as early out as possible. We used to book the park tickets even earlier before they added the expiry period to them, used to save a few hundred (for a family of four) doing that.

Next year is pretty much booked and paid for apart from a sailing holiday we are planning in October half term (booking after we've been sailing this year), we've got:
Long weekend in St Ives over Easter
Long weekend in Wales over May Day weekend
Download Festival and Le Mans in June
Week in Devon start of school summer holidays
Bloodstock and End of the Road Festivals in August

We were planning on going to Japan again over Easter but then my son decided to go to America with school over Easter and my daughter did not want to go (they are in the same year as they are twins). As they have AS exams we can't go before the summer holiday and we already had a ton of stuff booked so scuppered.
