I've thrown in smoking last month, drinking a couple of years ago, occasional druggism many years ago.

I found them all a total piece of piss, but that's because I wanted to rather than feeling like I should do it.

What loves or vices in your life have you chucked in and was it a titanic struggle for each of them?

I stopped smoking on May 11th 2015 and it was way, way easier than I ever expected. I wish I’d done it 20 years ago

This, but ten years earlier. After two days without fags I knew I had beaten them for good.

Relationships.

They always seem like a good idea but they are expensive and ultimately destructive.

Worrying........ Wife had Cancer a few years ago. Pulled back from the brink and thankfully still with us.
Since then, appreciate every day and refuse to worry.
Recommend it!

I smoked for 40 years, and quit in August 2012 - I wish I had done it 5 years ago.

Kevin Bloody Wilson - I Gave Up wking Lyrics

I've give up wking this morning I never thought that
I could I'm feelin better already and this time I'm off
it for good When I first wked I's thought I's so
clever And all of me makes, they were mugs Thought I
was the first bloke here on earth who'd ever played
with his slug It was me own little secret and I never
told anyone and the feelin' I got the first time I shot
was like chooks flyin' out o' me bum so I'm givin' up
wking...tomorrow I never thought that I could then I
won't get these bad headaches and then I'll be off it
for good I've wked in some unlikely places the
shower, the beach and pool a dunny, a tram a dunny and
the pictures and ebiology classes at school and once me
grandmother caught me wkin' meself in me room but to
her suprise I just shut me eyes and Imagined her
standin' there nude I'mgivin' up wking... next

tuesday I never thought that I could and then I won't
skwint like I do now and then I'll be off it for good
mw dad says it's gonna take willpower ther really is no
easy trick I honetly thought I'dneed surgeryto help get
me hand ogff me dick me dad's been a great inspiration
he really has been a great help he knows what I go
though and just what yo do cause he give it up yester'd
himself so I'm givin' up wking next erid' I never
thought that I could and then I'll be off it for good
so if you don't wk you're a lair and a fool if you
say that you do so next time you see, prince charles on
tv remember he wks himself too so I'm givin' up
wking come christmas I never thought that I could and
I'll sell me dog and me white cane and then I'II throw
away me dark glasses and then I'll be off it for good

Smoking; 1/1/11. Cold turkey, never going back to it. Easier to stop than I thought.

I did pile on some lbs afterward unfortunately. Now I need to quit pies.

Cigarettes , stopped in Feb 2017. Won’t ever go back. Dirty , filthy , disgusting habit.
Drinking March 2017. To never feel a hangover again is bliss , and no hangover coupled with not having smoked 40 fags the night before , win / win.

The Simpsons Tapped out.
I really missed the mindless tapping of my iPad screen for a while.

I gave computer war gaming in the 90s
I gave up caffeine for about a year in about 2001. That was tough and it’s still one if my biggest vices
Smoking in 2006 - I was a 40 a day smoker and really don’t miss it any more. It took me 5 years to give up, trying all different methods. Zyban worked for me in the end, and needing to give up so I could have an operation.

Booze 2013. Again I rarely miss it now but it was a massive deal at the time

I also went paleo and gave up sugar in about 2005 though I have been on and off that wagon too many times

Also as per the couples thread ... I have had to give up conversation

Like many others, smoking. Absolutely love it being smoke free after nearly 50 years of addiction.
Quit was simple, mind you an ambulance ride with blues & two's with a heart attack is a great incentive to quit. Never go back to it, I just thought to myself that's it no more fags. Easy.

I gave up cycling, I realised one day that it wasn't having any fun any more, I had a expensive bike and would obsess over cadence rates, smooth tarmac, carbon fibre manufacturing techniques, nutrition, leg hair and the latest expensive shiny thing that would save me 25 grammes.

It was a doddle to give up, I advertised all my bikes and kit on eBay and reclaimed a large chunk of my life. I did buy a used Halfords special and now occasionally ride down the canal path to the pub.
