Going to Florida. Whats best for mobile and data?
Discussion
I'm sure this has been asked but cant find anything.
I'm looking for the best options for 2 of us for calls, messaging and data whils in Florida for 2 weeks. Going to Disney etc where most of our bookings are on the app. Im sure there is wifi but would rather not rely on it if possible.
We have a S8 and iPone se on EE if that makes a difference.
I could take my old Nokia 1020 which I thik is unlocked.
Thanks

For a 'local' option, T-mobile 'walmart' plan for $30. (they will do it over the phone as well - you don't have to go into a walmart for it)
Unlimited data / unlimited SMS / 100 mins, which you won't need to use if you use data for facetime / whatsapp calls / google voice via hangouts (which gives free US domestic calls and cheap international calls) / wifi.

Get yourself a £20 Three pay as you go sim from the U.K. It has a no charge roaming tariff (assuming it hasn’t changed). This means phoning home cost 1p a min or something crazy low. Also comes with 12GB of data.
It’ll cost if you want to call a US number. But I never found the need. As it’s a roaming tariff it’ll work on any network in the US. I drove all over Florida and did over 1800 miles. Always had 4G signal pretty much except one odd bit in Miami. I used it constantly for Google maps and other online content. Never missed a beat.
Im just back from Florida a week ago, called EE and for an extra £12 they upgraded my plan to a MAX plan which basically means you can use your UK minutes, texts and data in the USA.
You can switch back to your previous plan after 30 days if you dont want it on permanently.
Stuggled to use more than 1GB of data in the two weeks though, everywhere has wifi.

Is that a current plan? I am not aware of that one. The cheapest T-Mobile plan seems to be 4GB for $45? In which case AT&T would be better value.Unlimited data / unlimited SMS / 100 mins, which you won't need to use if you use data for facetime / whatsapp calls / google voice via hangouts (which gives free US domestic calls and cheap international calls) / wifi.

Maybe discontinued unless grandfathered in. I know it was still available six months ago as I bought it for someone visiting

Just to close out.
EE Upgraded to the max package for an extra £7 for a month. Unlimited calls text and 8GB data. Wife is on a slightly different contract so hers cost £10. Not to bad at all
Unlimited including when in the US? Their daily data package rate is a fiver, so that seems a little off.EE Upgraded to the max package for an extra £7 for a month. Unlimited calls text and 8GB data. Wife is on a slightly different contract so hers cost £10. Not to bad at all
I would double check that if I were you.
If it sounds too good to be true....
