The Mrs has booked flights for my 30th Birthday end of feb (top girl!)
Looking for a reasonable hotel for 4/5 nights. Don’t want to spend mega bucks as I’m not planning on spending much time in the room, but at the same time I don’t want to stay in a travelodge. Maybe £150-£200 a night?
Any recommendations? We’re planning to tourist it up for a few days so would like a fairly central location.
She’s been before, stayed in the Waldorf Astoria and loved it. But wanting to keep this trip fairly low key as we are off skiing for 2wks on our return.
Any suggestions on what to do for a PH’er over and above the standard tourist bits?
Thanks.

I'm taking the wife there (without the kids) in January for her birthday.
The choice of hotels was never ending, so not sure there is a right or wrong answer. I ended up booking a suite at the Knickerbocker as is right on Times Square so close to the sights/Broadway. It's got a decent bar, and a cigar lounge (am partial to a decent cigar).

I stayed here for a week when I was there....

It's very quirky in a cracking old building, and the location is excellent. Fantastic quiet area to come back to and unwind after a day's sightseeing, with some excellent bars & restaurants nearby, including Chelsea Market.

I was going to post the same - I visit four times a year and always stay here when I'm in NYC. It and the area is perfect for someone aged 30. I have a room booked on Friday https://www.hotelindigolowereastside.com/

stayed here right in the middle of broadway and 2 blocks from Times square. Around £200/night.
Only downside is continental breakfast, loads of places to get brekky nearby. Great location.

I've stayed in http://www.hotelmetronyc.com/ Decent hotel, included breakfast and it's in a cracking location. There's a subway station about a minutes walk way too.

That's what I like to hear, off there in Jan djsmith74 said:
Just thinking out loud......has anyone looked into the option of staying in Brooklyn rather than NYC? It's just a subway ride between the two places. Are the hotels cheaper?
You could but as most things are in Manhattan you will need to constantly get the train. If your in midtown some places you can walk. We stayed at the Roosevelt next to Grand Central. Perfect location and good value
