Disneyland Florida - worth it these days?
Discussion
I've just booked up with the family. Flights, car and accommodation for approx £750pp. We still need to sort park tickets although doubt we will be doing Disney this time. Looks like it will be Universal with additional trips to wild Florida and the Space Centre.
The exchange rate has improved massively since our last visit. I think we managed $1.23 to a £1 last time. The current rate is $1.35.5. The gamble is buy some now or hope that the rate continues to rise further.

Gone up to 1.37ish today , still a very far cry from the 2.2 I got, back in 2008 when we did all the parks and still had loads of money. Good days.Anyway, don't know if it's been mentioned yet but the car show at Kissimmee on Fridays and Saturdays are free and the nearby park rides are reasonable. Not quite the fake spectacle but a damned good night. We also did cheaper things like fan boat rides and Gatorland.

They were... We managed to get 2 weeks in a 4* hotel with flights. Cost for 3 of us was £1,500....Anyway, don't know if it's been mentioned yet but the car show at Kissimmee on Fridays and Saturdays are free and the nearby park rides are reasonable. I paid similar to that for 4 of us £4.6k
Flight direct to JFK New York with virgin, hotel for 4 nights on Times Square.
Internal flight from JFK to Orlando, car for just over 3 weeks, direct flight back to Manchester.
I’m not to bothered about Orlando but we are going for my children only for a week though. Once you get off the tourist routes it’s a great place, some if the small coastal towns on the gulf coast are fantastic. The keys are well worth a visit.
We got a villa with a pool for £650.00 for the week.
Keys is well worth a visit. We did a twin centre trip back in 2007. One week in Orlando and week in Keys. Great contrast and some superb diving off the Keys. Flight direct to JFK New York with virgin, hotel for 4 nights on Times Square.

As for the haters, I question why you are even commenting on a Florida thread. I always enjoy the villa part as well as the parks. They are great value for money especially when you compare them to villas in Europe. No way I would have a pool with an overlooked pool though.
I've held off exchanging money as our passports hadn't arrived until today. Wondering whether to order some dollars now at $1.42 or to wait. Was thinking of getting £2k worth - originally I was taking £1000 worth of dollars and using Halifax clarity for the rest - now I wonder whether to get more dollars now or wait. $1.42 seems to be a good rate.
