Planning to stay over (2) nights in Monaco in October with an R8. I'm not massively fussed on where I stay, more that the car is not parked on a street at night. Normally I'd pay more for a room and have free parking rather than pay for that seperately, and I'm not a fan of Valet parking, but that doesn't seem to be how it works in Monaco.

I find that locating a space I'm happy to leave the car in is very stressful - it's who you'll find next to you when you get back and the door situation.

Would very much appreaciate any advice on where to overnight in the area (even if it's not actually in Monaco)

I think you'll struggle if you're ruling out valet parking! Try the Port Palace hotel or Hotel de Paris. With the utmost respect, these people are used to handling very high end cars.

Use hotels.com and tick the free parking filter (you could also tick park available filter but it’d be payable)

I went down a few years ago in my Gallardo, we ended up staying in Nice at the Goldstar, it has self parking underground, a little bit tight if I remember correctly, but secure with CCTV.

normalbloke: It's not that I don't trust them, but I'm on holiday and don't want to be fussed with figuring it out. I know where I'm going to park in the afternoon before I turn the car on in the morning, that way I'm 100% stress free.

Badvok: Good point, I've now found that even with the closet of the non-valet options it would be quite a walk into the centre... I hadn't realised that there was an option for FREE parking...

Yetski: Ah, excellent - if you were able to make in there there is hope for me! That is an exceelent recommendation. I can see the garage entrance from street view - but I can't see how to gain access. Do you drive up, park in front of the door, then what?

Understood Dave, I'm of a similar mind, I cannot be arsed with hunting for parking. We use the Port Palace hotel, and there really is nothing to figure out. We turn up, hand the keys over. By the time you have checked in, all your bags are in the room. If you want the car back at any point, just tell reception, and it will be there outside reception waiting for you when you want it. What we have found is that once in Monaco, the first thing you want to do is get rid of the car.
Good luck on whatever you decide.

If I remember correctly, the 1st time you obviously have to book in, then I'm pretty sure they gave us a swipe card, it was either that or we just gave them a quick blast of the horn on return (the cars were pretty obvious, as will yours)

Most hotels will charge you around €60 per day for parking (The Fairmont quoted this last month) so when stayed there I just parked my car in one of the public car parks by the hotel for €25 per day and walked back in 5 minutes. The spaces are wide and generally people take care of nice cars there. You’ll be amazed what you see stashed away in the car parks. There’s very little on road parking, your car will be towed if you get it wrong.
