I haven't been on this year's trip yet. Not even dug my boots and other gear out yet. Booked to leave in April. There will be plenty of snow.

I’d very much like to visit a Canadian resort in the 2019 season.

Which county are you in and when are state schools on half term?

Berkshire half term is now
Kent half term is now
Manchester half term is now
Sheffield half term is now
North Wales half term is now.
Somerset half term is now.
Derby half term is now

Those are areas friends with kids that I can list instantly have state school half term this week. The others I don’t know

Easter is 5 weeks this Friday away so if a school isn’t doing half term this week then it’s a long term after Xmas then a tiny one to Easter
Manchester half-term is next week (as is Derby), I assure you. As a college/University attendee it's quite important for me to know the correct dates.

As for skiing I'm hankering for a bit of sun so might try and get in a sneaky Val T in late March. 2018.

The state schools in Marple (Manchester) are certainly not as they are down here on half term visiting friends and family (and hey never take kids out of school term time).

Looks like your friends are "wagging it" as we say in Stockport.

Here is the link to the Stockport Council website

https://www.stockport.gov.uk/school-term-dates/

and for those who just want the relevant information

Spring Term 2018
Term starts: Wednesday 3rd January
Half term holiday: Monday 19th to Friday 23rd February
Term ends: Thursday 29th March

That’s interesting - as one of the parents is a state school teacher (primary)!

I’m going to challenge them on this as it’s at odds with what they preach

Are you sure it's not 'twagging it'?

I am old but we always said wagging it or bunking off.
The school was visited by "the wag man" to dish out bkings for people who got caught regularly.

This was Heaton Chapel - I presume each little area had their own saying.
Don't think any off us skipped a few days for a half term ski break - only posh s skied back then.

But you've only got 3 weeks of the season left...

You don’t want to risk it - was it a cheap price ?

Give over. It's halfway through the season. People will still be skiing in May this year.

Considering Saalbach again Jan 2019.

Back in 2017, the hotel we were looking at was £540 on Crystal if you booked in August I think. Same hotel/week when we looked later in November was nearly £800!

Or currency exchange. We purchased a load forward meaning we could sell at a better exchange rate. Fast forward and we'd used that money, purchased a load more and then had to change our rate. Prices increased 20%, but hey, Brexits good....

What you lot on about the season ending in May? Here's it's possible to keep going all year long. No idea why there is threads for different seasons...

Against the grain of the thread a little but does it make a big difference to book early? Availability and cost? We've been for two years in a row and booked through Crystal for the first week in Jan both times (work reasons) in November - when should we be looking?

Andorra & Austria last two trips so not too picky but after going to Skiwelt this year keen to stick to big resorts.
