Who’s going skiing and where 2019
Discussion
Our group will be booking imminently, went to Whistler last season but as great as it is there it's just so much easier to get to the alps so will be staying in Europe again this coming season.
Has anybody got any top tips on skiing in Austria? We're likely to go to St Anton but is that just a money trap and is there similar places in Austria that have as good a ski area and apres for less cost?

Maybe somewhere like kitzbuhel would be a decent alternative. Good skiing and apres to be had. Has anybody got any top tips on skiing in Austria? We're likely to go to St Anton but is that just a money trap and is there similar places in Austria that have as good a ski area and apres for less cost?
Brothers snowboarding trip 8th to 11th March booked - flights £120, hire car £100 between 3. Just ski passes to buy
Half term- just sold the week for a very competitive rate (cheap at twice the price etc) I had three people asking for it.
Probably take my 7 year old out for New Year if there's any snow, she's keen for a trip and I can teach her now myself.
My dad bought a place in Morzine about 25 years ago, it is very useful now.

Saalbach/Hinterglemm has good apres ski and a large ski area. It's not been very busy either when we've gone around 2nd or 3rd week of Jan.Has anybody got any top tips on skiing in Austria? Thinking of going to Pas de la Casa in Andorra around 20th Feb (half term) with my son. We are both fairly good skiers-any advice on the resort or snow conditions this time of year/
Regards
Steve
This website use to contain decades of data, but seems a bit wonky at the moment. Maybe they'll fix it. Regards

Pas de la Casa in Feb will be absolutely fine. Lots of piste mileage as the lift pass will allow you to go to all of the Grand Valira resorts (Canillo, El Tarter, Soldeu, Grau Roig and Pas). All are linked easily and you can do the blast from one side of Andorra to the other. Half term will be busier, but having been there at half term it is OK, some resorts are unbearable (queues) at half term, GV has been OK in my view (I hate queues). Regards
Steve
You can do a day starting at Pas, head all the way over to El tarter or Canillo and then back again. Good fun and some brilliant wide open spaces at the top. The middle areas higher up between Pas & Grau Roig and between Grau Roig and Soldeu will be quieter. As you would expect, the areas around the tops of the gondolas and bottom of the Pas de la Casa lift area will be busier.
Pas is a bit more of a "party town", than the rest of the resorts, so lots of younger (quite loud) people. Soldeu, El Tarter much quieter. Canillo very quiet (& relaxing).
Andorra as a whole is more Spanish speaking than French, but as Pas is on the french border there is a higher percentage of french speakers. Decent English speakers there too,

My usual group Snowboarding trip to the Alps (France) is January.. however, for some reason they want to go in mid March. I've never been in March, what are conditions like in general? I like Jan as you get good fresh snow everyday, but i've always heard march can be a bit iffy?!
Mid March can be the best conditions of the season! Jan can be a bit bleak, often with more overcast days. And the base level of snow will usually be much better allowing the pistebashers to keep everything in good condition. But of course it does vary.EddieSteadyGo said:

Yep. Warmer, more sun, longer days, more snow. Best time to go in my book.deckster said:
