Amsterdam Car parking

I am driving to Amsterdam this weekend, for 4 nights. Am staying at the American Hotel, and will need to park the car nearby.

Can anyone advise where best to park, and if I should book in advance?

have never been there before, and the hotel does not have it's own parking. there is a car park nearby which costs 55 Euros per day - was hoping to find something a little cheaper, if possible?

We stayed in the hotel next to this car park, it was €12 a day and that included 5 day tickets for the train

Price might have gone up a bit since then (2012?) but hopefully still good value

Thanks for that link - it s great value 'for sure!', but was hopping for somewhere nearer our hotel. the hotel address is Leidsekade 97, 1017 PN, Amsterdam

as this is PH, would you not just hand your keys to the young man on the door and let him park it?

...absolutely - but their young man at the door doesn't seem to exist... and for the privilege of walking 5 mins to park at the nearest place, they want 220euros... was just hoping to be savvy, and save a couple of euros to spend elsewhere in Amsters!

The Park & Rides around many cities can be extremely handy, and cheap.
