Myself and a three friends are planning to go to the Anthony Joshua fight on the 22nd September at Wembley

We're struggling to find a relatively cheap hotel just to stop over for the evening.

I've never really done London so completely clueless as of where to look besides the usual hotels.com etc.

Can anyone recommend somewhere, even if it means taking the tube to get to the stadium...

thanks in advance.

Cant really help with hotels, but not surprised the hotels in walking distance are pricey. If you going to stay somewhere a tube ride away, I would suggest somewhere north of Wembley Park tube station rather than south (i.e. heading into central London). At events there will always be a backlog of people heading to the tube, but you can head to the left hand side and can get a north bound tube quicker than southbound.

If you fancy some beers before the fight, I would suggest the Green Man pub. Its not a top class establishment, but very convenient for a short walk to the stadium. Lots of seats outside if the weather is good. They do have rooms there, but can't vouch for what they are like.

I’ve stayed at the premier inn at Kenton a few times when going to Wembley. It’s not luxury but 2 stops on the tube, free parking and cheap.

Best i've found is Kew bridge, which is at under £70 seems good to me.

According to my map is only 6.5 miles away, so i would assume taxi/uber would be the best route to the stadium. Maybe tube if theres one.

Try airbnb. Google maps will give you a route from anywhere to anywhere by public transport.

Put the citymapper app on your phone, it’s good at planning routes on public transport. The tube will be busy when you leave though, you may have to wait a while.

Travelodge and PremierInn don't advertise on the usual hotel sites - check their sites directly.

You won't get a deal near Wembley though!

This is a good shout, I haven't been to Wembley but I always stay west of Twickenham Stadium when I'm there. Thousands of people head towards the centre of London and I've ended up being 1 of a dozen people stood at a bus stop.

the cheapest accommodation in central London can usually be found near the train stations. Kings Cross, Paddington, Victoria.. You'll struggle to find anything for less than £50-60 per night unless you're willing to stay in a hostel.

That said, if you're as far out as Wembley then there might be more around there. I've never found airbnb to be particularly cheap in London.

Consider changing your mentality, Especially if only one evening.

City visits (especially first time) are much more enjoyable when you get somewhere nice and central and can walk or even cab home. So think about where you want to go after and spend what is needed.

Travelling after being 'out-out' lessens the experience of your break, you don't want to be on a tube journey at the end of the night.
