Thunderspook: sounds like you had a bit of a result there in the end!
Pisses me off they mark no / very little damage when the cars are so new but still pretty stty condition
Our Sportage had 12k km on it and looked like most of them were off-road!

It’s only because my wife wasn’t with me so I had time to argue the point.

Next argument will be that my wife and 2 friends are on their way over with FlyBe now and have all been charged to put their hand luggage in the hold even though the bags were bought specifically to fit in to FlyBe’s luggage policy.

From Sixt?
They have a lot of choice there, BUT, PLEASE make sure you take photos and email them to SIXT immediately you’ve got your car in their compound on collection. >30 mins later, they won’t record the car as damaged before your collection.

Oh, and for fuel, don’t take they’re refuelling option. Simply refill at the Circle K on the Airport perimeter road.

(Recently hired from Sixt Dublin Airport and the car looked like it had been washed with an oily rag, had no noted damage, but had TONS of big scratches all over it.)

Otherwise, err, enjoy the craik, as it were....

ETA: Oh, and they charged me EUR34 extra insurance as I was going to Norn Iron
They also wanted me to upgrade my already paid for full cover insurance to reduce my excess to EUR500 from EUR2000
The EUR2000 is still blocked on my MasterCard. I returned the car on 15th August.....

I slammed them on rentalcars.com and in Sixt’s own surveys
Sixt Ireland FINALLY released the €2K deposit / blocked on CC amount only yesterday.
I returned the car on 15th August!

I went on holiday to the USA with a mate.
Booked a convertible Mustang or equivalent.
Arrived to find a Beetle convertible.
Immediately paid over the odds for an upgrade - got a 300C. (Exchange rate was 2:1 at the time though so still wasnt much)
First time driving an automatic was exciting.

Best car hire experience was Terrys in Mallorca. Wander over to airport car park. Get keys from wheel arch. Drive off.

Arrived at Inverness Airport last week, lucky dip at the ready...

I had a choice! Erm...

Mini One (Automatic)
Peugeot 208

It would have been cheaper to actually just hire one from that category. Ah well, and to be fair the new 208 was a lovely place to be for 650 miles, and felt nicely suited to the narrow roads around Skye.
