Trip for Xmas thinking of Thailand or Dubai
Discussion
Any recommendations?
looking at either a package or is it better to book flights then hotels myself?
we have not been to either country before.
We have been to Bali and was not overly impressed TBH.
Really looking at some where that will be Hot and sunny.
and a good place to spend 7 or so nights from 21st Dec >

Both have great hotels. Dubai I would say is expensive once out there (in my experience. )
Thailand was great, did Bangkok and Koh Samui. Some amazing hotels for reasonable money and cheap to eat and drink too. Didn't feel as chaotic as I was expecting and the hospitality was good too. Stayed at the So Sofitel which was amazing, but many 5 stars all competing with each other. Emirates were pretty good deal from Scotland to both Dubai and BKK.

Spent Xmas in Thailand last year and it was epic, but probably would have enjoyed ourselves anywhere. Dubai & Thai poles apart, very different places. If you didn't like Bali, perhaps you won't be over enamoured with parts of Thailand, but without knowing what you didn't like or what you you look for in a break like this, it's not easy to recommend. Spending anything more than a couple of days in Dubai would be hell on earth for me, but each to his own....

I did Christmas day last year on a beach in Koh Samui for our honeymoon. Glad we had the experience, but not something i'd ever do again really.
(Didnt help that it pissed it down for 3 days solid...)
It's wet, at that time of year. Head to the other side of the peninsula and all is good. Hot, sunny and dry.(Didnt help that it pissed it down for 3 days solid...)

Agree on Thailand...here now and loving it, more so than Dubai (was there in May)
Am booked, Christmas Day I will be on Koh Samui. Can’t wait ! Would upload now but it’s a bar 🤣😂 with very obvious prostitutes...
Where you staying?
Dubai is OK for a short stop over but Thailand is the place for a holiday.
My wife and I spent two weeks here https://www.capepanwa.com/ in February, fabulous place, highly recommended. We also took day trips out to various islands, canoeing through bat caves, inland lagoons, all that sort of thing, and the food, say no more. It was just paradise.
We did this trip with TUI because they have a direct flight from the UK with a Dreamliner. We also upgraded to the Premium Club Cabin that included fast track check in and security and the use of the A1 lounge at Gatwick.
Cape Panwa
Mind you OP,you could always fly with Emirates to Dubai, short stop over, then on to Thailand.

Nearly, staying just a little further up the beach:http://www.belugaboutiquehotel.com
Off to fisherman’s village later for some dinner, great little town with some very nice markets - may even brave Ark tomorrow if my sunburn has receded a little!
