I'm afraid my experience isn't recent (Jan 2012), but we ate a pizza place that had a ceiling like the 16th Chapel. It was brilliant. I'm sure others will be able to help with the name.

for a nice lunchtime snack - try

5/10 min walk from Bryant park. Always busy which is a good sign and a massive choice of home made bagels & fillings!

Absolutely love this - they should rename it!

The Strip House midtown is amazing for a great steak.

The 16th Chapel? That’s a classic right there.
Try Union Square Café, it’s moved from Union Square now, to Park Avenue South and E19th.
It was a must for us when it was at E16th and Union Square, but friends who are NYC natives say that it is just as good in its new location.

I've been a few times now and haven't had a bad meal yet. Not cheap mind.
Went to Keens on my birthday last year, lovely bit of steak and a good atmosphere. I’d highly recommend it.

Very subjective, there are a whole slew just on Mulberry Street, Little Italy.
My friends of Sicilian descent in NYC swear by Paesano, 136 Mulberry.
