Speaking of chavs in Centre Parcs.
In 2010 we'd been working really hard so I took a bunch of the young guys who worked for me to CP for a 4 day break. Basically do whatever activities you like and I'll pick up the bill, just behave.

We got there on the Friday night and I was knackered (I was 44, they were early 20's) so I said I'm just going to crash out. They went to the bar "for a quick pint".

I woke in the morning to a banging on the door and having this hand delivered:

They'd got pissed up and kicked off with another bunch of drunks.

On the Sunday they invited 2 girls from the villa next door in, they looked about 19 to me.
I went to have a shower and when I got back they had all been playing strip poker and the 2 girls were giggling naked under a blanket while the boys were sitting around in their boxers.

I really didn't want to be around for this so said I was going out for a beer, while putting my boots on a bloke from next door comes in the open back doors looking for his 16 year old daughter and her friend, to find them naked on the settee.

Awkward doesn't do it justice.

They were all good lads really but just a bit wild. I regularly take my guys on holidays when we've had a tough spell but since then I've been careful not to take a bunch of young ones.

I sense your group won't be appearing on Center Parc's advertising literature anytime soon.... smile

fking hell. hehe

I've been with a bunch of NCT parents. The mums went out together one night, apparently had a nice time, they're all good friends after all. Then the dads went out the next, not really knowing each other they got straight on the shots and a few hours later ended up with a dozen guys raising their fists and shouting between the swimming pool entrance and the restaurants.

Think they decided they were all too old, tired and pissed to be scrapping in the end. I thought it was all very amusing but it wasn't half as funny as the next morning when the wives were around.

I used to do a bit of contracting for CP and have been behind the scenes.

I saw the whiteboard where they had the additional spend per head targets laid out for each week! Pretty bloody terrifying.

We had a look at centre parks but the prices were crazy, it seemed like it was cheaper to do a tui all inc trip to tenerife. Went to bluestone in the end and that was pretty good, much better prices, will be returning.

We’re off to De Kempervenne in Holland at Easter. We’ve got the largest chalet they do (for 10!) and it was £1100 if memory serves. All in the holiday will be about 1500 for us (inc ferry), which I think is tremendous value!
We go to Holland and Belgium every year, and love it. If you have small kids I’d particularly recommend Erpeheide in Belgium, which is brilliant for them. There is the ubiquitous pool, but they have also converted the old sports centre into a massive soft play, which is included in the price. There is also an indoor snow ski slope in nearby Peer, which is 400m long but obviously costs extra as it’s outside the park!
Regarding the mouthbreathing attendees, I cannot comment on whether the other residents are the European equivalent of Wayne and Waynetta Slob, as I don’t speak Dutch or Flemish! Suits me fine!
We used to go to CP in Europe in October half term, as the Germans / Dutch didn't have the same school holidays they were mostly around half the price of the English equivalent. We did the sites at Zandvoort in Holland, Eifel (short drive to the Nurburgring) and Bostalsee, both in Germany. All excellent and much cleaner than the English versions (take a look behind that settee in the living room, next time you're at UK Center Parcs and you'll see how filthy they are). Even for us coming from Teesside, it was a much nicer experience.

Kids are a bit more grown up now and we don't bother anymore!

I prefer bluestone to CP, much more relaxing and the accommodation is generally better. But, much less to do overall and the restaurant options are fairly mediocre. As a self catering getaway it's great and fairly cheap out of season.

After my divorce I wanted to spend a weekend away with my boy. I made the most awful mistake and booked the cheapest I could find.
If you have 10 minutes spare and want a giggle (not so funny when you're there) Google Pontins at Brean Sands reviews.
By the time I had paid petrol and Pontins and the hotel we booked into 5 minutes after arriving at Pontins we could have gone to Centre Parcs.

Yeah I can, no real harm was done in the end.
I did feel sorry for the bloke from next door, can't have been nice but the girls were properly up for it from what I saw so I suppose something similar would have occurred if my lot hadn't happen to have been around.

I went out that night on my own on my pushbike down to a town about 10 miles away and got absolutely smashed. Didn't give it a thought that it would be pitch black coming back, it was too dark to even see where the road met the ditch so I kept riding into it. Gave up after a while and just staggered along with the bike, freezing and wet, took me 3 hours to get back to the camp and I thought I had hypothermia.

On the last night we all got in pissed from the clubhouse, unbeknownst to me one of the boys put a pizza in the oven then we all fell asleep. Woke at 5am to the loudest alarm I've ever heard and the whole villa full of smoke. All the neighbours were up and panicking and the staff were running about like headless chickens.

I'm pretty sure they were all glad to see the back of us.

The Pizza:

Sounds like a fun weekend.

On that note it's exactly why I prefer bluestone because the lodges are detached and you don't have to worry about who ends up next door. I couldn't believe it in CP when we paid for a supposedly executive lodge at 1800 quid for four nights and it was fking semi detached shed with a damp smell. Never again.

ETA on the last day my entire back was covered in bites and I'm sure they were from inside the shed/shack. Last time I had bites like that it was a $10 a night hostel in Buenos Aires and they were bed bugs.

We were in bluestone a couple of years ago. Great place and so quiet. Most nights the wife and I were the only ones in the bar at ten o'clock.

Been loads of times whilst the kids were growing up. Always thought it maybe a tad expensive but decent enough if you cook in most of the time and just enjoy cycling and the water park.

Thought I'd book just now for Easter, just 7 nights.

2 bed woodland lodge is £2200 for the week yikes

Now looking at week in a 3 bed villa with a pool in Mallorca for 5 people including flights, airport parking and car hire...........£1100.

Thing is, it doesn't look like people vote with their feet as closer to any school holiday and Center Parcs is fully booked.
I'm going to call BS on this. Show me your villa in Mallorca for 5 people including flights for £1100 and I'll book that myself now.

Centre Parcs has always been very expensive. Simple solution is don't go.

We did it for our main holiday in June of last year with some friends and we all had a great time. We have considered it again, but my OH doesn't want to spend her evenings cooking for the family which is basically just like being at home and I understand that. Yes, there are restaurants on site, but they are very expensive for what they IMO.

1126 inc. flights.20th April until 27th april.

And that's not the cheapest.

Send me photos of your holiday please.

That's pretty good TBF.

Looked at 20-27 April for 5 of us from Stanstead and it was £950.

We've been to De Kempervennen a couple of times and it is a nice place. First time the language didn't matter as the kids were so young and when they were sat in a story session, the girl doing it spoke to them both in English as soon as one of them said something. Second time my son didn't like it as he couldn't speak to the other kids.

The Netherlands is cheap at Easter because it's not a school holiday. They get time off a few weeks later leading up to Liberation Day on 5 May.

Just got back from a Mon-Fri at Elvedon in a games lodge, had a great time, could not find a single thing to grumble about, our 2.5 year old had the time of his life and 4 of the group who had never been to CP before loved it too.

We have just booked to go back again, in a games lodge next June, £1,999 which is split 8 ways.

When mine were little we saved a bit by going to Sunparks De Haan, near Bruges. It's in the same stable as CenterParcs.
