Anything Worth Seeing in Kos?
Discussion
Me the wife and kids of 9 and 11 are going to Kos next week.
All I know is the hotel is supposed to be an nice one and its AI ( A bit council know). Wifey has sorted everything so that is the limit of my knowledge of where we are going.
Usually we hire a villa, a car and do self catering. This time we fancied doing as little as humanly possible, hence the choice of accommodation.
My question is. Is there anything worth seeing or doing on the island to drag my lazy arse away from floating around in the the pool for a week?
I'm not interested in going to any other islands and going on a boat of any description is out of the question.
Cheers

you could wind away time by the pool and let your wife and kids take a great boat trip to Bodrum and wander round the port, markets and various bars and restaurants.
There are several different beaches to visit, one with hot springs, always good to see the hippy girls strip off and have a dunk.
Kos town quite good for castle, restaurants and the port for a good day wandering about.
hire a car and see the island is always good for exploring the little villages.

We had a good holiday in Kos, though not somewhere I'd go twice. As said, hiring a car is an idea - some nice mountain roads but takes only an hour or two to cross the whole island (and back!). The main town is nice for a walkaround, lots of refugees though when I was there. Some sulfur ponds on a beach if you like that type of thing (stinks!) with mud baths (on the east coast, forget the name). Aside from that I think that is everything!
Oh good call on boat trip as well - visiting the volcano (Island of Nisyros) is a great day out and lovely fishing village for dinner. 'Interesting' coach trip up to volcano though, narrow roads with a big drop!

We tacked on a few days in Kos the year before last after a sailing trip and stayed in a hotel just down the road from the marina.
We hired leccy bikes for a day and they were great for exploring the main town which has a pretty good harbour, an interesting castle and a lot of roman ruins, most of the "council" hotels are on the North side of town and with the leccy bikes we got past them pretty quickly.
We also hired a car for a day and found some very impressive roman ruins up in the hills at Asclepion, at the other end of the island Kefalos has nice beaches and restaurants and a castle on the hill.
Google historical sites on Kos and quite a bit comes up.

You missed a great waterpark on the South of the Island.
Me and my lad went there on what must of been the first day of the season. It was empty but had some great rides. No queues.
There was a small waterpark on the hotel complex which kept the kids entertained for a couple of days. And was small enough that we could keep an eye on them without following them round.
