When on holiday obviously.
I was going to start a poll, but don't seem to be able to.
I deliberately haven't put forward my POV yet, just wondered what your thoughts were on the subject before I did.

Not really, happy for them to make the bed but clean the room every 3 days should be enough.

In a hotel I expect towels and bed making, plus a turn down before the evening.

I also expect a chocolate on my pillow and a balcony with a lake view. smile

Absolutely not. I’d rather they just left the room alone unless otherwise told. I don’t need new towels every day and I’m an adult so quite capable of quickly making my own bed (I hate how they always tuck everything in super tight).

Bathroom cleaned every day, toiletries refreshed, new towels etc. Happy with clean bedding every other day, but bins emptied and general tidying up to the same condition when I first went in. Turn down, yes. Chocolate or similar on the pillow, yes but I don't need my towels shaped into a swan everyday tongue out

Do you have clean towels every day at home?

Do you change your bedclothes every two days?

No, but I'm not at home. I expect to receive what the hotel have charged me for.

That’s a bit odd. If you don’t need it doing or even particularly want it doing wasting a lot of resources washing practically clean bedding and towels is a bit daft no?

A couple of hotels I’ve stayed in recently have offered a credit for not having the room cleaned. Seemed sensible and fair.

Close the window, make the bed, replenish the tea / coffee, clean the bathroom. No need for towels, I’ve left them on the rail as I would at home.

Wouldn’t want several litres of fresh drinking water and electrical power wasted unnecessarily cleaning towels and sheets.

If I'm staying up to 3 nights, I'll just put the 'sod off' thing on the door. I can manage the same sheets and towels for that amount of time, irrespective of how much money I'm spending. Apart from anything else, I feel sorry for the housekeeping staff on minimum wage, and wish to give them less work.

I NEVER let them 'turn down the bed'... WTF is that all about?

Housekeeping only get paid for the rooms they clean. When you take a credit in lieu of house keeping the cleaner doesn't get paid. Everyone has to eat.

Serious question: Does anyone like their sheets tucked in mega tight at the bottom of the bed?

Looks tidy doesn’t it, first thing I do is completely undo it all, the duvet normally pulled the undersheet out with it rolleyes

They get you with the bog rolls. They never leave an abundance so no clean means you run out, particularly if course if you're travelling with a lady friend. If they'd leave more then I couldn't care less if the room goes unserviced for a few days

What’s the basis for making this claim?

Who on earth would ever take a credit in lieu of house keeping? That would be outrageous. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and have never even heard of this - we must stay in very different hotels! If there are indeed hotels that run this policy, I'd never stay there.

You can ask them next time you go. It's pretty common knowledge, especially in the major chains.

Fresh towels, empty the bins - that's all I'm after unless I'm staying in the room for more than a few days, which is rare.
