Dukes Of Hazzard
Discussion
The first six episodes filmed in Georgia have a much more adult content before the daftness of the second season onwards.
Huge amounts of fun thereafter and a great show in which the Dukes spend their lives driving sideways, being airborne and just generally trying to help people - a much nicer time and a pretty mellow watch.
Most enjoyable.

Wasn't the original premise that they were bootleggers? I don't recall much moonshine in the episodes I saw on a Saturday evening as a young lad. Mostly Yee-Ha! and trying to avoid beong caught by Roscoe P Coltrane and Cleetus, and avoiding Boss Hogg. Think it was Uncle Jessie that made the moonshine.Halb said:

That’s fantastic This may surprise many of you, but the DofH was based (first 5 episodes, anyway) on true events.
As stated above, the film Moonrunners was the precursor to those first episodes and was mostly an autobiographical synopsis of the man that inspired Gy Waldron. That man was Jerry Rushing.
Jerry was a moonshine maker, along with his uncle and cousin. He owned a modified white Chrysler 300C to transport moonshine that became notorious in evading the local Police, That car was named Traveler. It still exists. There was a County Commissioner, who didn't always obey the law. There was a County Sheriff. There was a female cousin. There was a Cooter-type mechanic.
The pre-production name for the General Lee was Traveler. You don't need me to tell you the connection between those two names.
In Moonrunners, Traveler was depicted as a beaten-up stock car. You can then see how the GL became to be by combining the two vehicles into one.
After the first five episodes, Waldron was asked by Warner to tone-down the DofH and to make it more comedic. You can clearly see Boss and Rosco morph into caricatures of themselves from Series 2.
Anyway, that's a brief history for those who were captivated by the DofH, as I was.

Interesting. And it's good to know the show changes from series 2, because I loved it when I was a kid, but watching series 1 yesterday, I was disappointed. I had to just go and look up on Wikipedia to confirm my vague childhood memory that at one stage the original starring duo randomly left and their basically identical cousins turned up in their place. But it turns out I didn't dream it.

I spotted this the other day and applied suitable series linking on the Sky box
The theme tune still takes me straight back to being 6 years old and watching on a Saturday afternoon. I loved that show.
IINM, they can't/won't show it on American TV now, due to the racial links of the confederate flag on the GL.
There's a couple of cracking stories on VinWiki's Youtube channel in relation to the Dukes. I like this one in particular
