Basic Toolkit to carry
Discussion
After a few years in newish lease cars, i am now back in a couple of older 'sheds'.
I want to put together a few 'essentials' to carry with me and that includes a few basic tools.
Cars are a 1.5 Hybrid Honda CRZ and an about to be purchased turbo diesel hatch of some variety probably a KIA Ceed crdi.
To cover both bases what do people recommend?
I am thinking Jump Leads, Small Li ion Booster/Starter(already got),a few common size ring/open ended spanners/Sockets and a couple of screwdrivers
Thanks
Tbh the only essential I want/have is a 1/2" breaker bar and 17mm socket for changing a wheel. Everything else I'll just use breakdown cover for and they can tow me home to fix it there if its something major.
I have a 1/2" and 1/4" drive socket set that I like, but I doubt it will be much use in a lot of situations if I don't have replacement parts.
EDIT: remembered I also carry a cheap air compressor.

Torch. Stuff to keep you clean and/or get you cleaned up after you have been grovelling under the bonnet. Multitool to loosen stuff that is supposed to move and gaffa tape to secure stuff that isn't. The key for any security wheel nuts, wheel brace, tyre inflator.
^^^This.I drive a modified 02 172 and my EDC is,
Jump leads
Small 3/8 socket set
2 spanners in each of the commonly used sizes
15 inch 3/8 breaker bar
150 peice ish 1/4 bit insert set
1/4 bit screwdriver
1/4 impact gun with socket adapters
Magnetic LED rechargeable inspection light
Assortment of cable ties
Roll of gaffer tape
Couples of flat head screwdrivers
Hand full of nuts, bolts, washers
Tow rope
Can of tyre foam
Standard scissor Jack.
This might sound excessive but you'd be amazed how often I delve into my kit to either fix my own problem or help a friend / stranger. Better to have it and not need it then want it and not have it.
