No it’s not great - clearly everyone here needs this dose of realism

So how do you get around it?
Can you cheaply rent say 4 months season and formally work from alps whilst renting out your home/only for those child free.
How will the slopes be opened or will they actually not so working away means very little.

Covid really is a proper fker.

Yep, French lockdown until 01/12/2020, at the earliest.

My daughter's home from her French Uni this week, and due to return across the border to France on Saturday.... We hope.

How does that work with quarantine? Is she allowed to depart before its complete?

Yes, you can leave anytime - there's no need to stay in the U.K. for the full 14 days. Will need a negative PCR test to get back into France though.

We live in Lux, not UK.
She anyway has a CV19 test on Friday as part of the Lux's ongoing large scale testing. (Currently hitting >5% positive rates on tests frown )

That makes things slightly easier. How does the large scale testing work do you volunteer or are you selected?

Govt invite us for tests. Almost everyone has now been tested twice, some more. We can request to be tested more if we wish.

Which camera?

https://www.cervinia.it/en/inverno/webcam-panorami...

All look empty at the moment - maybe it was staff checking runs / avalanche risk?

I think you get around it by preparing to take a risk and booking some cheaper options/elements in advance which is what we have done, or being prepared to go last minute.

The costs involved in our trip are low enough and spent long enough ago that it is really here nor there at this point.

So following the Hovis announcement yesterday about the new minimum 4 week England lockdown it also comes with a travel ban as in flying or leaving the country.

As such unless people are going to fly out before close Wednesday the possibility of skiing in start of 2020/21 season might simply be impossible.

If this drags more time to actually get out there will be removed.

frown.
Hopefully this works and then we can all go.

I never go skiing until end of February or early March, and the resort I go to doesn't even open until the 5th of December, so even if some form of lockdown and a travel ban lasted for the next 4 months it wouldn't actually affect me, provided I was willing to go at the last minute when allowed.

But the issue there is, that everyone else will be trying to get out there as well and it would likely be impossible to get air tickets or accommodation if a million of other people were trying to do the same thing come February/March.

Let’s hope this is all resolved or controlled soon.

That aside and the hope for good snow / what can resorts do to extend their seasons way beyond their usual close? Some close whilst there is plenty of snow but volume of people are low so is May skiing possible in Europe?
