Supposed to be having a refund. Confirmed by email on 21/3 to go back onto our card but today received the credit note by email. And still no refund

I actually hate TUI now

We have rebooked for 2021, a holiday costing twice as much.

Haven't had the credit yet but will get it allocated against next year's.

No point being angry. Our budget this year with TUI was £5k, next year's would be too.

So, f&£k it!! Let's do a BIG BIG holiday next year instead.

Life is too short to get shirty or knickers in a twist.
This is what we're thinking of doing.

Any idea on how long it takes for the 20% voucher to come through? We were meant to fly out 30th of May, but had the cancellation notice about 3 weeks or so ago

Only 28 mins to get through today and that was at 9.30 ish.

Well I'm all paid up for £12k Jamaica in July.

At the moment it's still on with TUI, but Jamaica has it's borders closed to all but freight and the hotel is closed too obviously.

I'm not stressing because I know I'll get a credit note or refund eventually. A 20% uplift on £12k might be good to do a Christmas and New Year cruise or something. Or of course, we might still end up in Jamaica. But what sort of holiday will it be? If it's crap, like pool limited to xx people and no buffet dining, just fixed times, etc then there might be grounds for a complaint. But I'm 95% certain we aren't going to be flying into Montego Bay in the next 60 days.

Holiday to Mexico with Tui.ie (we live in Belfast and it's easier to fly via Dublin) booked for 10th May (Sunday just gone). Had an email from them 4 weeks ago to say that the holiday is cancelled and they will be in touch to rebook/refund. Phone call from them last Wednesday offering credit note +20% or refund. Asked for a couple of days to look at alternative holiday dates and they said no problem. Phone call from them on Tuesday this week to see if I had seen anything else - we had but because we are flying from Dublin, the flights out to Cancun tend to go via Gatwick so we just decided to wait until we know what's happening a bit more. The guy I spoke to said he would process the refund in the meantime and it hit my account today.
Might be useful to some people waiting for refunds to point out that different territories are able to issue refunds without hassle and put pressure on the UK operation to do the same.

2 hours & 6 mins later I’m all refunded, decided to take the refund in the end

She did give me the speech about how the cost of holidays will drop after this has all settled down, how it’s atol protected and can book up till 2023 etc but I didn’t want the hassle of having tui go under then going though atol to get the refund.

I was tempted but still prefer the cash.

Shame

Depends when in July I expect. Caribbean islands are looking at inter island travel starting in June before international flights.

Hotel groups like sandals are talking about opening again in June also.

There’s a bit of info about their plans here,

https://www.caribjournal.com/2020/05/04/sandals-re...

I think it all seems weird because in the U.K. we’re just starting to transition from going from lockdown to going out but in a few months time it will be quite different. Think about all the changes in the last two months. That was when the Cheltenham festival was on and people were debating whether it should go ahead. hehe

Many European countries are agreeing common rules and looking at July 1 at the moment for commencing tourism. Obviously that will depend on a variety of factors before then.

Interesting.

We are due to fly on the 10th July. My cofindence is slowly increasing that it will go ahead. The only slight cloud is the self isolation on return. But by August, I would hope that will be all done and dusted.

Some more info here.

http://www.jamaicaobserver.com/latestnews/CARICOM_...

https://www.travelmarketreport.com/articles/Sandal...

Caricom countries are Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago

Obviously much can change before then.

That's interesting in that Sandals Jamaica is opening in June (not going to Sandals as it happens) but there is no word on international passenger travel in or out of Jamaca as it stands.

If they open, I guess it will be to ramp up ready for when the guests start arriving when borders open.

After those articles, confidence levels rising. Risk of cancellation now 88% from 95%.

To those that have rebooked using their refund credit - does your booking show in your TUI account? Mine doesn't and says I have no upcoming bookings.

I have the email confirmation, and when I use the iOS app to lookup the booking I can see that the booking is there, but it seems odd that it's not showing in my account on their website.

Well fair play to TUI, just checked my credit card & the cash is sat there. Was actually received last Thursday, same day that I made the call for the refund.

Was happy to moan about them earlier, so now i'm happy to recognise they've done what they said.

I did a fair bit of moaning myself, but once I had spoken to a person and after I'd waited longer than should be the case, they did process my refund.

I doubt my outcome would have been as good had I waited patiently for them to contact me. Not sure they'll be my first choice for future holidays.
