I've never had the need to do a chargeback via CC - what's the process and what evidence will they ask for?

There are millions of people involved worldwide here. And only a skeleton staff to process it all.
To be fair that’s a very lazy excuse for an organisation the size of TUI. This isn’t a 2 man independent travel agent. There’s no justification at all for not immediately processing automatic refunds for any customers who have been advised that their holiday isn’t proceeding.

Bet it wouldn’t take 4 weeks for them to allow me to book and pay for a new holiday....
I agree. I was only suggesting that's what they will say though.

Yesterday I paid the substantial final balance on my TUI holiday booked to travel late July.
I paid in the hope of actually being able to travel, though I'm not holding my breath.
I was faced with either paying the balance by the final due date, or losing my deposit and chance of a holiday.

I paid by credit card, and have two valid insurance policies, so I hope my cash is safe.
If not, the world will be an even more different place when we eventually come out of this.

Quick question, I paid for my holiday via PayPal which in turn went onto my credit card. Do you know whether i need to speak to Paypal about charge back or the credit card company? Not sure how it works in that situation.

I too have been waiting 4 weeks now.

think it would have to be dispute payment via paypal.

You would have to check there terms and conditions as doing a charge back would be against paypal and not your travel company.

As the other thread got culled. Anyone got any refunds from First choice yet? It was 6 weeks yesterday that I first spoke to them about a refund and still nothing!

No charge back hasn’t been processed. Was still waiting for RBS to get back to initial email with all details.

Got refund processed email from First Choice on 23rd and cash back on my card late yesterday afternoon.

That’s great news, still nothing back for me yet. Fingers crossed.

What happened to the other thread?

Removed due to name and shame rules, one or two posters were really pushing it to be fair.

No voucher for me yet (holiday was supposed to be April 13th) so I assume they've not gone out yet as we were in the original wave of cancellations but they never got to phoning us before changing the rules.

Doesn't seem to be much logic to it. We were one of the early cancellations as well, told on the 15th March it had been cancelled, due to fly on 18th March but still no refund. I've not been contacted either, only conversations I have had were instigated by me and holding on the phone for hours.

I chased them the day we got cancelled as had a feeling it would be a bit of a st show.

Last £1850.00 DD coming out of the bank tomorrow for Jamaica in July. Wish me luck!

Still hoping it will go ahead. Three weeks in the Caribbean we've been looking forward to for nearly a year.

We also had Tui holiday booked for July with the final payment due. We couldn’t see any way the holiday would go ahead and to be honest we didn’t fancy being stuck in Mexico with the risk of being infected.

Not wanting to lose our £750 deposit or pay the remaining £4.5k balance I opted to do a rebook via the website. I found the cheapest 3 day break they had to offer in July 2021. That’s meant we now have no more to pay until April 2021 and our £750 deposit is still alive.

The Terms and Conditions say we should have been charged a fee for rebooking but the website did it for free.

All being well we’ll look at rebooking something we actually want to do next year sometime. But at least we haven’t lost our deposit so something positive.

So what happens there? Do you rebook the rebooking sometime next year? Again at no further cost?

The other TUI refund thread seems to have been locked/removed.

We had a trip booked departing Apr 11th - phoned and requested a refund Apr 1st (thanks to a poster on the other thread for sharing a working phone number). This was received Apr 24th. Happy days, as I was concerned we were going to lose it (£6k).

I suspect this money is going to be spent on a larger splashpool for the garden and a new driveway. Can't see us going away this year frown

Exactly that, just rebook the rebooking next year. You either keep kicking the can down the road or rebook a trip you actually want. I figured it was better than cancelling as I'd definitely lose my deposit in that case. It also leaves the option that in the unlikely event of Tui going under the deposit should come back via Abta.
