So i am a visa holder (not permanent resident) in the US

A few weeks ago i flew home to the UK as my father was taken to hospital with breathing difficulties, fortunately a week later he was out of the hospital and back home

Now my wife, house and cars are in the US, so obviously i want to get back ASAP

I see 2 options

Wait for the US to open up to Europe, something i thought would occur given the low rates here V the US, but seemly no news on this and now getting tired of waiting

So plan B is to go to another country for 2 weeks, that both allow UK citizens in and also are allowed people to fly into America,

My current aim is for Morocco on the 11th July, and then fly to the US on the 25th July, but was wondering if people had other thoughts/ suggestions?

Also any decent internet sights that would have early rumors about it opening up that i can view?

Obviously i prefer to wait in the UK and fly direct, for costs risk and simplicity, but i cant just wait here for months hoping it will happen

No sadly, she is also on a visa, so I cannot directly from from the U.K. whilst the ban is in place.

I think spending 14 days in another country as a stepping stone is my best hope, I thought Morocco due its location and low infection rate, any other ideas of better places that could work?

Bermuda, Cayman Islands and or Bahamas would be a logical stepping stone.

A colleague of mine is currently doing this but spending 14 days in Istanbul, he had no issues landing there and explained his situation. The true test will be landing into the US however.

Doesn't the Republic have the same entry restrictions to the US as the UK?

Flights available from Dublin to various USA cities this week.

Train to Belfast using the ferry then bus direct from Belfast to Dublin Airport (2hrs ish)

14 day quarantine at home.

A mate is doing similar by booking a holiday in Aruba.
Rumour has it that there is a tunnel from Mexico but that maybe rather more hazardous.

Flights being available & preclearance have nothing to do with it as I understand it. There is no entry to the US if you 've spent anytime in the previous 14 days in either the UK or Ireland unless you are a US citizen, or have a few other factors in your favour.

you are correct, need to spend 14 days outside of Europe, when they put the ban in it made sense, but given how more controlled Europe is now im surprised they have not opened up again, even if they force a 14 day quarantine on arrivals , but get some movement and tourist/ business cash on the country

Alas it is very political and not actually based upon scientific information whatsoever. Americans can travel freely around the USA, but until a few days ago Welsh people could not travel within Wales. the US Covid-19 infection rate may be high but there fatality rate is lower than ours and the severity of their virus may well be different than then within the EU. The no travel ban or the 'Red Marker' is driven by civil servants who spend most of their time at home, being paid for doing **** all.

Out of interest does anyone know of a reliable website that has countries that allow entry from the U.K. as well as the conditions of entry(14 days quarantine etc?)

Currently use wander lust but I’m not sure how accurate it is

Most the Caribbean is off limits as no flights go directly there, they all go via the US , which of course People from the U.K. can’t do.

I believe British Airways might start flying direct to Barbados from the U.K. on 18th July which may help

One of my colleagues who has spent lockdown in Australia, is due to fly back to Bermuda within the next two weeks on a BA flight via London. I would check that.

I did but only see a flight that goes via the US , in which case if I came for the U.K. I’m not sure they allow it

Any how I’ve jumped now and am in Istanbul, Turkey, stay for 2 weeks then onto JFK, can’t wait to get back just have to hope Turkey keep it together for 2 weeks Covid wise and politically too!

Interested how this works out for you.

I was toying with the idea of going via Croatia, but I’m in no real rush now to be honest

I'll update this again on Thursday, my colleague should be in JFK by then - for whats its worth he had no issue landing in Istanbul on a US visa.

The other is doing the Croatia route but not due to fly for another week, again to JFK.
