Has anyone booked any continental holidays yet?

Long weekend in Spain for end of September looking OK but the 14 days in Dubai +Abu Dhabi I had pencilled in for last week May and first week June not so sure....thankfully nothing paid for as yet.
Prices are very high for UAE when you search now though......no surprise I guess.
Never mind trying to recoup losses due to the 'rona, I like to blame bl***y vacuous, puerile waste of skin influencers (hate that term) who flooded Dubai when they were [cough cough] "working" throughout lockdowns for driving up demand and prices for us "ordinary" folk........
Tw*ts.

No idea when my jab and second jab will happen so that would dictate the passport (which is apparently the jab card with dates on it).
I suspect the price will surge and availability will be very low which is a little unappealing.
So for now doing U.K. holiday in 2021. But open minded.

Prices will surge. The fact i don't care won't help either. I'm going away and don't care if it costs triple. I suspect the price will surge and availability will be very low which is a little unappealing.

I went to Dubai on Xmas day for 10 nights , all legal etc, but get where you are coming from . Prices were just normal ‘expensive’. Prices are very high for UAE when you search now though......no surprise I guess.

Yeah I expect expensive for Dubai - it just is, and I accept that. Been going for years and love it.
But the prices for this summer are really steep in comparison to previous years!
Even Abu Dhabi (which is traditionally cheaper than Dubai) is pretty pricy this year. Will be interesting to see what take up the hotels have at those rates.
Occupancy is normally not that high in May/June when I usually go (apart from when Eid is celebrated, everything is busy during Eid).
In 2019 I was in AD for 10 days early June and both hotels I stayed at were barely at 55% occupancy.

Trying to reconcile what appear to be positive messages about foreign travel coming out of various European countries - Spain, Greece, Portugal etc with the fact that we have just concluded a nationwide manhunt using the full force of the Police and Intelligence resources to track down a single bloke from Brazil.......
The fact that the positive messages also seem to come from Tourism ministers - not exactly the movers and shakers of the respective governments (anyone ever heard of Nigel Huddleston? Clue - he's ours) - doesn't really inspire confidence either..but here's hoping for the best..

The irony is strong in this one. Person wanting to go to Dubai criticising the type of people who go to Dubai.Prices are very high for UAE when you search now though......no surprise I guess.

I'm definitely not going to be going anywhere this year but elderly (80) Dad has booked a flight to Mallorca on 18th May!!
What do you recon the chances of that going smoothly are?
Spain has said they will open up on May 19th but only with a digital vaccination passport (not the little paper card with dose 1 and dose 2 dates on it). These do not yet exist, there's a UK Parliamentary debate on Monday about them. Quite how your dad is supposed to get one in the next two months is a mystery? Approval, law, manufacture, application, issue etc. What do you recon the chances of that going smoothly are?

It’s all might and could at the moment and like before, the talk is about a vaccine passport might be one measure and even then as an alternative to a negative test.
If you think about it, how can Spain say they’ll open up but only with some that doesn’t exist?
Like last year Spain and Greece etc are desperate to open up to tourists, they’re looking at ways to facilitate this not creating barriers.
I want to go to Spain in June (rebooked from last year), But seeing as i won't have had both jabs, if they say a negative test is required, i don't fancy paying £500 extra on top of a Holiday just for tests, (2 adults + 1 child both ways), plus the added risk of having to quarantine out there if we had a positive test before we come home.
You would have to be desperate for a holiday if you are willing to go through that, and i dont think i would even be able to relax out there knowing i had to provide a negative test to get home, the thought of being locked in a hotel room (circa £100 a night?) for 10 days as an extra cost to the holiday with a 2 year old toddler makes me shudder. Lets hope TUI cancels it and they wont let us fly.

Happy to remain UK-bound this year......not the sort who needs/enjoys a beach holiday, plenty in Britain we haven’t yet seen.
Worked all through this st show. In Belgium, 8 weeks away 2 weeks home plus isolation both ends recently.
Very stressful role 60 hrs a week away from home and family. Last holiday August 2019.
Crazy rules at work. Going days without actually seeing a full human face. Huge language barrier.
Chest pains through stress.
Younger sister took her own life December 2019 and I really struggled mentally.
Yes I do need a holiday. I really really need a holiday.
So what ever it takes I am going away in August to Kefalonia. £500 for tests- no problem. Kill granny- no problem.
Look into their eyes and tell them my holiday is necessary- no problem.

That's what Reyes Maroto (Spanish Tourism Minister) said. I appreciate it's all might and could. Our Parliament are debating vaccine passports on Monday. Beats me how you can knock me down and say that's not what's been said at all? That's what she said, even if she was speculating, and the Commons are debating vaccine passports. It’s all might and could at the moment and like before, the talk is about a vaccine passport might be one measure and even then as an alternative to a negative test.

Can you supply a quote of her saying that? All I’ve seen is her and others making suggestions of what might be the case and vaccine certification is usually being proposed as an alternative to negative tests. There’s nothing finalised at all yet.Like I said these are possibilities and she hasn’t said what you said at all.

Widely reported in popular media, The Mail online yesterday for one, although I read about it elsewhere. The same quotes are attributed to her, the date being coincidental with the start of a tourism fair.

The fact is nothing has been finalised at all. Booked for 21st June Canary Islands.
Have only a small deposit paid so far - £80 each - balance not due until this time next month. Will see how its all looking then.
Slight fly in the ointment RE: the 17th May date from Boris is that we're in NI, who seem to have their own, vague, schedule not aligned to the UKs.
