Now in Buxton. Ended up going cross country today rather than as originally planned along the road from Leek.

So I got my first taster of the peaks. Roaches stones and Axe Edge Moor. Then arrived at the entrance to the gardens in Buxton. Altogether a better arrival than on the A road.

Only downside no pubs but two great cafes on the way. Roaches tea room and Flash something or other.

The pub at Flash was shut frown

Ive had a little bit of luxury now. Bath, laundry. Planning to eat in the hotel then see if theres anything interesting pub wise afterwards.

Oh and thanks to “Follower from Pistonheads” - you know who you are even if I don’t. smile

I'm guessing you don't have a set of kitchen scales in your rucksack but have you any idea if/how much weight you've lost so far?

Just found this and caught up on your travels OP. I have done a bit of long distance walking over the years but nothing as ambitious as you are doing.

Well done and please do share the fund raising page when you feel ready. I would be delighted to contribute to recognise your travels.

Hope the sun shines gently and the paths are smooth for you.

Cheers Daimlerv8. As you may have discovered there's a route to some bonus content as they say in social media circles. Don’t want to fall foul of any PH rules so I’ll say no more.

Lovely to be able to drop into cafes and pubs each day if you choose. How much would you say you'd need to budget for each day for things like food, drink & accommodation? The costs must add up over the length of your walk?

I’ve set up an account and bank card just for the trip so at the end I’ll be able to do an average daily spend. I’d say maybe £25 perhaps without accommodation. Camping average is about £15. I’d love to be using hotels and b&bs more but that would be ridiculously expensive. I’m following another LEJOGer on social media and get very jealous that he’s in a warm bed every night.

I would love to do this but with the comfort of an inn or guesthouse every night.

100 days for the trip, so about £10k for lodgings.

Gulp! yikes

What a fabulous adventure!!

I stepped away from work a year ago, and chose to cycle LEJoG. Took a leisurely 19 days pedalling, with a couple of rest breaks along the way. Weather in Cornwall was brutal, & my crank arm broke before Bath, but aside from that, it was just an amazing time. Not sure I could imagine walking it all, but I admire the effort on pubs and beer as fuel - my kinda walk!

I'm sure you will complete it, and you will definitely have a great experience to look back on. You're not close to us (Leicester), so nothing but encouragement to offer you, & a few pennies added to your pot, good charity!

Just come across this - a fantastic idea and hats off to you - a challenge and a half!

I see that you are heading up towards Yorkshire - without looking at your route I presume you may use some of the Pennine Way.

I will keep an eye on your progress and if your route looks like it will be coming close to me, then if I am around, (few things in the diary) - I will attempt for our paths to cross.

If only to shake your hand or buy you a beer and contribute to your fund raising.

Even if that doesn’t happen, then a contribution will made to recognize your efforts

What time do you expect to reach Slaithwaite/Hebden Bridge, OP? What’s the best way to contact you?

I’m working afternoons in Leeds this week.

Couldn’t get into Slaithwaite itself so I’m in a campsite about 4 miles north of it on 4th April. So that will be a long old day.

Hebden bridge is the following night the 5th.

My PH email should be enabled.
